3 link rear? good or bad idea?

i found a toyota long travel 3 link in the rear for sale and was wondering if its a good idea. i am only familiar with devers. what do u guys think?

Replacing leafs with deavers would be a 2 on the pain in the ass scale.
Fabricating, fitting, welding, and doing the rithmatic to build a proper 3 link I would say about a 50 on the scale.

Well it's a "short course" style rear 3-link (meaning the C/O's are mounted on top of the axle), instead of trailing arms like most long travel linked setups.

They are an iffy thing as there is a lot more work and skill involved in creating a properly working 3-link. I would ask who/where it was build & and to see some pictures of it cycling at the least.

agreed^ r u jumpin this truck or r u crawling with it.... i feel a 4 link would be more stable for jumping... but a 3 link to me looks as tho it could flex better and twist better....

A 3-link is essentially the same as the 4-link when setup in this fashion, just changes the loadings on the top of the axle housing. So it really doesn't make a huge difference when done properly.

Thanks for everyone's imput. I decided to not get it. So if any one knowes any body selling a Toyota pickup long travel with full cage for around 6 grand let me know. It does not have to be street leagel.
