Leaf packs under axle, Why?

Ive been researching Lt for awhile now but never understood the reason for putting the leaf pack under the axle. Is it for more wheel travel? if i did that would i have to get a new pair of shocks cause the travel is diff? would tht take away from my leaf pack lift?

more travel, longer shocks required, you should scrap any plans you have and read everything again and start over

You gonna wanna getcha some of these. Measuring tape is set at 12".

 

more travel is achieved, you could re use your shocks, but then they wouldn't suffice for the amounts of travel the SUA kit can pull

well i have fox 2.0s 10" extended travel
and i wouldnt be doing this till i get a cage for 16" or 17" travel

 

or pay the extra shipping of extended!

 

You could make 10" travel work but you'd need to inboard them so much you'd probably have to re-valve to a stiffer rate.

The better option would be a cantilever, but then you're talking $$$ in custom fab. And you would DEFINITELY have to re-valve. The nice part is you don't need a bed cage, so you can keep the usefulness of your bed.

Seriously, keep researching. If you're asking these questions, you haven't done enough homework yet.

That too. But seriously, even without N2 these things were a bitch to change length. I had to stick a chainsaw file into the shaft eye to get enough force to pull or compress the shaft during mockup. I couldn't do it by hand. I'm scared to take them off the truck because I'm not sure I'd be able to get them back on without discharging them first

 

also with sua you dont have to worry about axle wrap caused by the bump travel
