Yep. And you can get a nice lift (e.g. Ol Man Emu, with springs, leaf packs, and Light Racing UCAs) for about half of that. Actually - your truck is a first gen - so you don't even need the replacment UCAs. So even less spendy than that.

To be more specific just in case others don't understand, you don't need replacement uca's for normal suspension setups, but you do need the for MT setups.

Hmm this is very tempting. Now I have to have an internal debate. I have friends that go to Moab at least twice every year and I thought maybe LT would be a good choice(and yes I have thought over a SAS and no I'm not retarded[hopefully]) over my stock suspension but maybe MT is for me.

Hmm, for MOAB a couple times out of the year and the rest of it in Colorado, I say MT setup would be perfect for you.

There is not as much of a specific kit for MT as there is for LT. But I think I'm going to use this as a guide on what to get. Although I do recommend doing research and look around to get the best price on parts, although this sites prices will be hard to beat....

I agree with what everyone has said. I also wanted to go long travel when I got my truck when I was 18, but it really is a ton of money and work/time. Now I'm almost 21 and have a decent mid travel setup and its been awesome thus far. You really should drive your truck and learn its limits with a good mid travel setup because long travel is a lot more complicated.

So your saying that like MT is more like a stepping stone into possible future LT rather than jumping head first into LT

Yes. I thought I would want to do LT first, but you really have to gusset and reinforce a lot of things on the truck and shit likes to break which can get pretty expensive to replace/fix. I would get a mid travel setup first and then step up to long travel if you really want it and can afford it. You can pm me if you have any questions too

Yeah my mom hounds me pretty good to keep my grades up and then she hounds me about going to college but I'm not complaining cause I know I should get a better education first so I can roll in all the dough later

It sounds like you have your head screwed on straight

Most of the teenagers that post here are either trying to figure out how to milk mods out of mom and dad or how to cover up damage they did to a vehicle their parents bought them.

A mild lift coupled with aggressive tires and basic recovery tools will get you out and having a lot of fun in the dirt. Enjoy it as a hobby first, make it a lifestyle (spend the $$$ associated with a full LT rig) once you're sure it's what you want to do and your finances are prepared to support it.

I think my mom told me when I first got the truck that I was paying for anything that went on it. one more question will I be able to retain 4wd?

You will definitely be able to maintain 4x4 with mid-travel. Nothing needs to really be done with the axles.

With LT you have to get tundra axles or something similar to go with the wider track width.
