Not going into specifics, so dont ask who or when.
Someone needs a guinea pig for a prototype LT Kit- I'd love to do it, BUT.
    total invoice is over $9,000.
Just for the front to be done.

I understand it's gonna be stupid expensive because I'm going from basically stock, mid travel to full 4X4 LT

Shocks are 1,600 and that's fine, nobody can really "Steal" King shocks, but the rest adds up to the kit, install $, fiberglass fenders, brake lines, Axles.. etc.

My question is how much is too much? never having done this before and looking around at build pages etc, it looks like WAY too much.
What should I be expecting to blow on my front end LT?

Somethin fancy with the way the shocks mount, I think it'll be effin solid but 9k? I could literally buy a Razr or rhino for near that.

The 1600 is for the pair of 2.5" Coilovers AND Bypass shocks with 3 tube all valved to the right specs. I didnt find that part too unreasonable...

Here's to beating a dead horse- What's it cost on average to go from bone stock to totally complete LT on the front end? I thought it was around 5,000 ?

Sounds like a good rape job to me. For the sake of comparison with Total Chaos/Kings with all the bells and whistles (gussets):

    TC 3.5" Kit: $2500
    King coilovers: $1000
    King Triple Bypass: $1300
    Secondary Shock Mount: $210
    Heim Steering: $425
    Spindle Gussets: $30
    Coil bucket Gussets: $80

    Oh yeah
    Axles for 2nd gen: $500
    Glassworks fenders: $355

Engage front kit, 35" hankook mt, Glassworks, Deavers.

how much metal work is being done? IE: engine Cage, bumper, gussets, strengthening.

9000 may be a little high, for just a bolt on kit and labor. but not if its a race kit, full engine cage, dual shock and bump setup.

All depends on the kit and the amount of work being done (engine cage, plating) what snout/bearing setup? what kind of axles? a race kit alone can cost over $5k. start adding shocks, engine cage, platting/reinforcing, axles, fiberglass. it can add up very fast.

That's if they are using all stock drive components. You can easily spend $1000 on hubs alone. Like i said it all depends on the components.

Think about if you had a shop build a front end using the solo kit

    the kit: $3800

    Axles: $1400

    Steering: $375

    Fenders: $350

Shocks: $1600 (what they quoted you, seems super cheap)

Your at $7525 just for parts.. and that doesn't include brakes.

While in agreement with you...if my truck is gonna be a guinea pig, you can bet your ass I'll know exactly what I'm getting before it goes to a shop.
So far all the OP has mentioned in terms of specs of the kit are "Kings" which are obscenely cheap for both a set of coilovers and triples.

Hmm. Yeah it's a full race kit
upper, lower arms, spindles, axles, a bar over the motor between the frame, shock hoops reworked, Fiberglass fenders..might not be crazy after all? Nothing bolt on about this kit and once my rear is done it'll be race ready

Oh lord I know. I don't think it'll happen sadly. I JUST finished my mid travel last month and aside from not having 9K to blow, I don't have enough to fully cage it and then drop a couple more thousand for the rear to keep up. Sad. But get if anyone wants to donate 20,000 I'm always taking donations... :/

Not trying to talk you out of it, but I guess my question why a race kit up front when you can't take advantage of it?
Why not do the rear first since you already have a solid MT kit up front?

I only got into this mess cause I caught wind of them needing a truck to use their prototype 4X4 LT which sounds like a burning deal on cutting edge race setup and a good excuse to go LT when I really haven't been able to justify it.
But Alas, reality has other, less exciting plans for me.

When I actually get around to it I'm gonna cantilever the rear first ;)

^ exactly why I'm deciding to bail.
Why drop 10k on a badass front end that would make me bankrupt and pissed off that I can't actually use it due to a sad mid travel rear...

    And case closed.
If its that awesome, I'll pay full price for it when I'm ready and it's been proven.
    Thanks everyone for the input.
