I've been on the fence about going up to 315/75/16. I currently have 285/75/16. I want the 315s, but not sure if it's a good decision...
-Is there any benefit to getting 315s other than looks?

-Also what size ring and pinion do I need and gear ratio? or should I even bother re-gearing with the 285s?

    I have a 2007 TRD off-road prerunner.

    Lots of stuff
I wouldn't worry about re gearing with the 285's. Once you go to 35's i would gear it to a 4.56 gears this sets the truck right back to how it was when it was stock.

Benefits to larger tire size are increased ground clearance, increased weight distribution on soft terrain (more traction and flotation), and the larger diameter the tire, the smaller the bump in comparison.

Yeah I have 285/70/17 on stock gears rides just fine not lacking power anywhere but when these tires go bald in moving up to 305/70/17s
By then I think I'll be ready to pull out the hammer a start beating my wheel well

Alright thanks for clearing all that up for me!

I always thought my tires were big! Then I went to the off road expo looked at prerunners and trophy trucks and they looked to small lol.
