Difference between mid and long travel?

    been doing research on long travel for awhile because i wanna do it after i finish my payments (3 years), but wuts the difference between long and mid travel?

    and yes i searched for it.....

    Relentless Armored! Too many others to list.
    Mid travel is a uca and coil over combo yielding more travel than stock, iirc around 9-10".
    Long travel replaces the whole front suspension with longer arms and longer shocks giving around 12-15" travel typically. The longer arms widen the truck and make fiber glass fenders necessary

    okay so basically the differnce is having LT kits like TC? this is just the front too

    As said above mid travel will keep the stock width. You gain a little bit of travel but usually pretty close to stock, usually consists of upper arms and an extended length coilover

    This would be mid travel (upper arms and coilovers)

    What everybody said above ^^^

    but in all consideration with other trucks...a TC kit getting 13.5" travel may still be considered mid travel. There are other trucks that get 16"+ travel with their front kits. just fyi

    Lol I was gonna say this, if you go to some other places the answer is different. The hardcore guys do not consider 13" LT

    I have a question... Are there any "long travel" kits that keep the width of the front end narrow enough to NOT need new fenders? I would be interested in going LT for the extra articulation but I don't want the baja look. Sorry... just figured I would ask...

    Guys run the +2" per side kit from Allpro withouth glass fenders... you need the longer control arms to get the extra travel though so it'll need to be wider than stock to get beyond that 9"-10" range of travel.

    Totally agree on this!

    I love the way my trucks runs. But in actual reality long travel is like 16"+ IMO

    Cool, yeah I figured you can't really get much more travel due to the geometry of it all. Figured I was ask anyway. Thanks.... 2" doesn't seem bad though.

    alot of metal, small engine, decent travel.
    caged, camburg long travel, 50t leafpack (soon to be installed) light rack over cab, 5pt harnesses etc
    ap and TC have a 2 inch over kit that doesnt require glass.



    and IMO anything that has longer than stock upper and lower controll arms is considered long travel.

    yep, even with 33s the additional uptravel will tear your OEM fenders apart on the +2 kits

    AP needs the glass as well, unless you take a hack saw to your stock fenders. With 33's it will pummel the shit out of stock fenders.

    I totally agree just mirroring what I've read and seen. All pro states they aren't necessary on their site but I know my setup already mashes into my stock fender flares before i hit the stops and I just have 285's with CO's and UCA's.

    With a setup of say icon extended coilovers and tc ucas . would you need extended front brake lines ? or would stock lines be ok

    they might be pretty tight at full droop, never a bad idea to upgrade to stainless!
