Fuel filler extending for glass

As many know, on a 2nd Gen when putting glass bedsides on, the fuel filler neck isn't long enough to meet the pocket on the bedside.

So, its recommended to purchase a 4runner fuel hose that goes from the filler neck to the tank. Part number 77213-35370.

However, what have ppl done to extend the evap hoses that are also attached to the filler neck. One is 1/4" and the other 5/8"

Are you just cutting the lines and adding a small peice of hose to aid in the extension? Pictures would be awsome. I've searched the hell out of this and really only came up with the 4runner part number, which really does no good unless the evap lines get extended as well. I tried last night. Just trying to get ahead of the game before the bedsides get mounted and painted.

haven't looked at it are they hard lines or a rubber hose? any auto parts shop has stock 1/4" hose for cheap

 

There's one hard fixed line attached to the filler, and one hard line thats attached to the body that slips into a nipple on the filler.

Trying to get the opinion of what others have done before I chop up my good filler neck.

 

Just get some fuel line from napa and cut it. It's just evap crap, and as long as its airtight will pass emissions and won't throw codes. They get tested under pressure so use hose clamps.

 

Im not sure if your is the same but I just bought new vapor lines. One goes to the overflow and one to the evap thing (charcoal canister on top of tank?). I just bought enough to replace the entire line. Auto zone has the 1/4" and Napa has the 5/8"

 

Thats what I figured I needed to do. Just wanted to make sure before I hacked it up.

Then get told "Dude why did you do that, when you should've just bought this xxxxxx"

Word! Truck with be finished next week. Going into paint tonight, picking up bedsides tomorrow and dropping them off, then picking up truck fitted and painted next week. Can't wait!

 

Well there may be a "xxxx" part that will fit perfect. I am impatient though

Nothing wrong with that. Well I shouldnt be too far behind, I just bought rear leafs, shocks, shock mounts, perches, TC bash plates, ubolts, brake lines, DOM, Hobart 190 welder and some other stuff I cant think of

 

Hot Damn!! What leafs and shocks did you get?

 

F67's from a member here and then had to go with smoothies for now. Hopefully upgrade to some bypasses down the road but with 18" travel the rear might out perform the front even with smoothies

 

Just a quick question how do you take the fuel door off?

my stock length tube goes through the wheel well.

 

^Your tank is on the passenger side? Mine just comes up through the bed too

 

The older Toyota trucks have it on the pass side. Same as my 89 Toyota pickup

 

I wonder if you hack it off and just extend it radiator hose with clamps. As long as you have a good seal that might work well.
