I'm just hoping I'll be able to make it. With the current job situation, I can't make any upcoming weekend. Stupid 6/10s. But I am working hard on finding something new, so HOPEFULLY I will be able to. I've got a big ass tent I've only used once. :D

O7tacoark - I'd love to go fishing. I've never been so it seems fun.

Dave - the generator could be fun and useful, but it really is about the outdoors. And I don't wanna be in the snow, but I'd like the "cool".

Ro - I hope the work gets better and I vote to wait for you until you can make it.

Wish I could have made the meet on Sunday. Pics look nice. Definitely next time. Camping trip sounds awesome. Count me in. I know there are several camping/canoeing places in Mississippi, but that may be a little further drive for some.

Hey guys, I wish I could have made the meet but I am currently deployed so it would have been impossible for me to go. That hooters is only a mile from where I lived before this deployment so it would have been perfect for me.

I am a pretty experienced camper however I take most of my trips outside of Louisiana. When I do camp in Louisiana I almost always go to Kisatchie National Forest that is located near Alexandria. I Know that is a bit of a drive for most of you bet that is where the prime camping is in Louisiana. This park is huge and is broken up in to 4-5 subdivisions that are not connected to each other so a trip here takes a bit of planning to find a good spot but it is not too hard. Just do a little research before you go and you will be able to find a spot near a stream or something pleasant. Just be aware that you will likely not be able to find any park rangers or anyone to assist you when you get there. So you are pretty much on your own, but like I said it is the prime camping spot in Louisiana. This is "real camping" with no facilities of any kind and you will likely have to hike a ways to get a good spot and you will need to bring a fire pan as there aren't many, if any, designated fire pits.

If you are looking for something a little less extreme, a really good spot with many rangers and helpful workers is Lake Fosse Point State Park. The nearest town would be Henderson, LA. This park is really family oriented and made more for "car camping". There are many facilities at this park including swing set and a mini water park that is only a few years old. They have a fishing pier and canoes for rent. There are many predetermined campsites with fire pits and benches already made for you. Some of them you can drive right up to it and others you may have to hike a few hundred yards. I like going to lake fosse point when I just want to chill and have a few drinks with friends but don't feel like doing all the work involved to coordinate a big trip.

Lake fosse point also has a few miles of trails that are good for spotting alligators.

I don't know why most of this post is in italics, sorry for that.
