I did find the source of mine yesterday. I strapped my gopro in the wheel well and videoed the springs compressing over a large bump to the point that 3 of the coils slapped together. Thanks for the info!
Did you ever find the source of the clunk you were chasing? I was considering the body mounts but after reading your writeup that it didn't solve the problem, I am still searching as well. I thought it was the transmission mount, but replacing that didn't solve it either.
It was the front sway bar end link on the passenger side. It looked fine but the ball was rattling in the socket. I figured it out when the whole thing fell apart. Easy cheap fix and NO MORE CLUNK!
