  Hey man,
  I just read your post saying that the Tacoma's had drive by wire systems in 03 - 04. My truck is a 04, and I have just purchased a 96 chassis. So according to what you say, I need to find a different transmission. Is it not possibly to use the 96 transmission?

    If you do the conversion on an 03-04 you need to use a transmission from an 03-04, from everything I read, it is a drive by wire and it won't work with the older transmissions.
