Hey guys/girls, I gotta ask... sorry if it seems... racist? Stupid maybe? Anyways, be blunt if you want =)

Anyways, I'm from the Twin Cities area, and always wanted a rig and do some weekend off-roading with a club or a group of friends and last year, finally got myself a 04 Tacoma. No mods yet, but plenty planned out. Now here's the questions, I've been scouting some clubs and looking at these photo shots of you guys/girls with your awesome trucks on these trails and it's all great n all but... there isn't a single Asian person! The reason for this question is being that I'm Asian, love trucks, and would love to hit the trails but every club I see or every photo shot I see, are so far, just Caucasian guys/girls. So... I guess what I'm saying is that one, is there any other Asian folks into this sorta stuff? Two, if not (to date anyways), would it be kinda awkward for a Asian dude like myself to join a club? I mean what's the reception like? I don't want to intrude nor will my feelings be hurt if it's even preferred that I not join up as I understand people have their own feelings and/or opinions and there's nothing wrong with that. I just have no idea how other people would feel about someone with a different ethnicity joining up as it's new territory for me but I also don't wanna be somewhere and make people feel awkward if I'm there either. All my other buddies who are Asian are into the whole "Fast n Furious" type of cars which I just never really got into so I'm kinda of a loner with this interest with the folks I currently know now.

Dude you just said it. All of your friends are into the whole fast and furious thing. That's about the only reason I can think of why there would be no Asians in this kind of stuff. I would have absolutely no issue with you joining or partaking in anything I am a part of. Im from the northern states and lived here and Montana my whole life. To be honest there just isn't a whole ton of diversity as far as culture is concerned. Mostly just white people doing our thing. Come and join this stuff, you'll have a great time.

Who cares?!? Get out, wheel and have fun. The only people who care about race are those that care about race. As long as you don't act like a dick, no one will care.

If you're interested, Iron Rock Offroad (IRO) is having their annual event in Gilbert on Aug 16. Registration is free and from what I hear, IRO puts on a good event.

Yours or someone elses? If its yours, just tell her that you want to share your life, your passions with her. I'm sure she'll understand;)

Sounds good guys, thanks for the insights! I would absolutely love to join up for the Gilbert event except I work Thursday thru Sunday with 12 hour shifts from 10pm to 10am so Sunday afternoons would be the only weekends unless I request a vacation which I might even do for the Aug 16th... Well, if I can make it, I definitely will. Again, thanks everyone for their replies.

I guess for now I am just looking for some advice I probably wont do the lift until spring. I have a 2014 regular cab 4x4 that i bought as more of a toy( i have had it for 6 months and only have 1,000miles on it). I wont be driving it in the winter and very minimal if any off roading. Since they quit making the regular cab I would like a lift that is bolt on ( so no permanant modifications) just incase it becomes a collector someday and i want to return it to stock. I have already bought some 5 star FN wheels 17"x8.5" 4.5 backspacing. I was thinking of a 2"-3" lift and 285/70/17 tires but i dont want to trim anything. From what i have read I would like to do it right the first time so no spacer lifts. Where everything gets confusing to me is do i need a diff drop and new uca's etc? I would rather spend the money up front and get a quality lift. I was thinking new shocks and springs upfront and a springs in back versus blocks. any advice would be appeciated...

Eh, if you aren't gonna offroad and you just want the lift/ride quality I have to put my vote in for Icons and an AAL. That would be doing it right for your application IMO. I have the OME kit and dakars and my truck rides like a tank honestly unless I have a load :p
