God, you guys blew this up the last couple of days. I SHOULD be good just about any weekend. I will know for sure once I report to my school in North Chicago what my actual schedule will be like.

Shit, pipeline with TW sounds fun. but i've already committed to a club trip Oct. 13/14 at Iron Range Off Highway Vehicle Park in Gilbert, MN. It's about an hour northwest of Duluth. The more the merrier if you guys want to head up my way.

    http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/ohv/trail_detail.html?id=13/

It's a good time. But probably won't be able to get to the Pipeline the following weekend.

Yeah, Wisconsin sucks for OHV/OHM. I grew up in Superior, live in the Twin Cities now. Much happier with the way MN handles it's state land than with WI.
Plus, it's always nice to take a 'detour' through a OHV/Fire service road on your trip up the North Shore. :)

It'd be really great if WI would just offer permits. They'd make some serious tourism dollars as many WI folk i know/talk to take weekend trips to MN or MI to get dirty.

    Yes.
That's one of the weekends that doesn't work for us... :( Otherwise we would totally head up there. I'm not a fan of Minnesota in general, but I wouldn't mind going for some off-roading. Haha.

haha, yeah Gilbert is a great place for a day or two of wheeling. Good trails, good maps. Varying difficulty. Lots of off camber stuff (which still give me white knuckles) hill runs, terrain from smooth river rock to sharp shale deposits the size of a football to the size of a tire and bigger.

I am originally from WI! And I'm down! I may even have to bring a "classy" lady with. Maybe even leave her on the trail if things don't work out!

Any weekend in November will work for me.

Well, I was born in Arizona. Grew up in Wisconsin. Moved back to Arizona for three years. And now I've been back in Wisconsin for a year.

Yeah, we could plan for the first weekend of November.

We did some of it. Not sure how long it really is? We started from the north end, I think. I don't know, it was my first time driving there. We did some other random trails in the area too. I added to my pinstripe collection.

I Live in Milwaukee or Franklin for that matter any wheeling taking place soon? and from what I know and heard Pipeline is CLOSED people in crappy F150's and Lifted Jeeps kept "Burning out in the mud" and hit a gas line so its too dangerous to run there and is now closed down. This is from 6 different members who have told me this

    Yes.
What Tacoma are you buying? First or second generation?

We were hoping for some wheeling soon, around November 3rd. Not sure though. We were at Pipeline recently, it wasn't closed but I suppose that could have changed--and we didn't go thru much of it. There were a lot of Jeep people there, a couple that were acting like asses. Apparently McCaslin Mountain area is closed now. :( Otherwise we would have gone there a couple weeks ago...

Sorry for the delay, been working or going to school 7 days a week.

From what I can find, it seems to be true at least to some extent or for some parts of the trail. Seems there has been talk for several years about it closing.

More accurately, the 'Pipeline' is FS Road #55552.
    http://www.wranglerforum.com/f83/pipeline-trails-closed-57350.html

Here is where it intersects with 64 and I think it's safe to say this is indeed the Pipeline trail (considering the exposed portion of the pipeline if you look south.)
    http://maps.google.com/maps?q=55552+Section+4+Ln,+Nicolet+National+Forest,+Mountain,+Oconto,+Wisconsin+54149&hl=en&ll=45.114299,-88.342867&spn=0.053241,0.132093&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=60.158465,135.263672&t=h&geocode=FQeTsQId7cW5-g&hnear=55552+Section+4+Ln,+Mountain,+Oconto,+Wisconsin+54149&z=14&layer=c&cbll=45.11428,-88.34301&panoid=zrMLfh01hIRvkgJuM1PMVg&cbp=12,45.03,,0,0

I don't know how new this FS map is, but what concerns me is that Road #55552 (far lower right on the map on the county line) is broken up quite a bit and I wonder if these are the sections that have been closed recently.
    https://fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE_DOCUMENTS/stelprdb5361341.pdf

Here is the notice confirming the closures that was updated as late as May 2012.
