I dread the snow and I have the same tires as you on my 3rd Gen 4Runner. I have found no comparison to the BFG All-Terrains on my Tacoma. I am the hunt for some factory take-offs so I can run some dedicated snow tires and leave the Rugged Terrains for summer duty. How have you liked your Rugged Terrains?

They are good. I fill like the lugs dont do amazing though in the snow and do tend to fill up quickly. And if I did stomp on it in the rain I could break the rearend out. But I will say in Colorado and hunting and the terrain I have put them through they have held up great and with almost 30k miles they still show 8-9/32nds. Best tire no, but they are a good tire. Thinking possibly my next set will be some Grabbers as thats what a lot of the Overlanders are using.

I agree, they do seem to have the high mileage factor going for them. The blocks are pretty rigid which lends itself to high mileage but poor hard pack snow performance. I think some siping would help the snow performance quit a bit at the cost of longevity. I considered hand siping mine on the larger blocks but decided not to. As far as rain they hydroplane much less than my All Terrains which is good. Unfortunately I think the All Terrains are almost famous for hydroplaning.

So Idk if I updated you guys but I changed out my grill to black along with emblem but I tried buying the black corner lights and they no work. I thought they were all the same just that all 4x4's came with chrome and no black option. But the black ones are smaller and dont have the screw holes on the side, I was sad to say the least. Looks odd having a black grill and chrome corners lol

The smaller ones are probably for a 2WD. I had the factory grey/black grill and markers on a minimal optioned '96 4WD I used to own.

Maintaining the same distance from the spring mount to the axle locating pin is critical. Assuming both packs have the pin in the center of the eyes then yes I would say move both mounts if factory shackles are to be used. If he is running longer shackles it may be beneficial to keep the rear in the factory location. I was told for ride quality the shackle should be at a 45 degree angle under typical operating weight. Running a longer shackle and moving the shackle mount back will put the shackle angle closer to vertical.

Be sure to post some pics of this weekend!

Going to use the entire axle? If so you would have to modify the housing since it would be setup for coils.

As well as maximizing suspension flex

Anyone interested in a set of wet okoles in realtree camo? I have a full set for a DC Sport. Has the dog leash, map pocket, back zipper pockets, and conceal pocket on drivers seat.

No I don't need it. I already have one or at least the parts. I have a 3rd gen 4Runner elocker housing and my 4.10 Taco elocker collecting dust. I always grab those elockers from any self serve yard when I see them. For no more than what they usually cost at a Wrench-N-Go type place you can't go wrong. I have pulled three of them in total. One I have in my 3rd Gen, one I parted out and the last one I sold the elocker but still have the housing. I wish Taco axles were that easy to find!

Messaged Toyota about my frame, I don't expect any good news however, if any does come I'll be happy.

Messaged them? I think you need to take it to one of the dealerships and have it checked out, but I am not sure the buy back program is still going on.

It's not lol but hey why not try , I inspected the boxed portion of the frame an there's small chipping on the bottom but that channel In the rear has seen better days but that's easier to fix so that's a plus lol
