Hey all,

Haven't posted on here much, thought I'd check in again. Traded my Standard Cab for an Access Cab. Loving the extra space, oh yeah, and the power! Had to go a little older to owe the same $$, though. Got some things in mind for it, once I sell my car.

That's a nice upgrade. I started with a regular cab, now have an extended cab, and want to go to crew cab. I can't be satisfied.

Yep I'm in Ames, about an hour away or so. I'm close to releasing my front winch bumper, an integrated hitch rear bumper, and square tube rock sliders to go with the skids I have.

Chad, (if you're creepin here)
I'll be getting with you sometime soon I hope to do some 2nd gen stuff. Sliders should be easy if you want a cheap set of square tube. Or if any other 2nd genners would like a set.

Sounds good but I can't wait that long to prototype the first set, so hopefully someone else would be interested sooner. I'll sell the set at cost, so you will save some money.

I know I'm hesitant to take my 2012 to places that might inflict some damage. So since we haven't hit any of the big events, are any of you interested in visiting some level B roads this year?

I've been going over these maps for level B roads and then looking at the photos of them in Google maps, etc. to find some interesting ones. The middle column in the second link shows road surface by color so you can find all the "B" dirt roads.

http://www.iowadot.gov/maps//msp/pdfview/counties.html
http://www.iowadot.gov/maps//msp/DLbody_co.htm

Let me know if any of you want to have an informal visit to try out some of these. I plan to do it for sure but some company would be good, especially if they're worse than I expect.

I'll be there. My armor will be on and I need to get it dirty. Might even have a winch depending on timeframe.

I'm down as well. I've been super bored here but had some fun exploring all the flooding the past few weeks. I got spoiled exploring all the forest service roads up in the black hills of South Dakota the past few years and miss that now, there doesn't seem to be any cool trails around here to drive.

Ryan, I remember reading somewhere that you don't do tube anything... has that change or are there plans for it to change soon? I really am set on a front tube bumper and probably rear too. I'd be happy to volunteer as a guinea pig if you don't want to take yours off to fit everything and assuming the 5 lug is the same (I've heard the frame horns in the front are different)

I might look into tube bumpers if I can find someone to bend tube for me. I'll look around. Chadderkdawg is thinking tube also, so it might be worth my time to pursue it. Or I can do square tube right now

I thought of that but I think our trucks are too round in the front for that. I saw a 2nd gen with a home made square tube bumper and really wasn't a fan.

You could just cut it into 1" sections at an angle and then re weld them back together to make an arc, shouldn't be too hard

Glad a couple of you want to hit the level B's this year. I'm going to do it for sure but I still haven't nailed down any specific roads.

I'm heading up to Wilson Toyota in Ames to look at a used Camry for my 20 year old daughter tomorrow. Have any of you dealt with Wilson before and have any tips? Their prices on the Internet seem better than DM Toyota. I think I have all my numbers figured out for negotiating so we'll see how it goes.

I'm ready for class B's. My winch is on its way!

Wilson is a good dealership. They went bananas when I had my truck over there. My boss bought a Sienna from them and he said they knock a good amount off. He checked Toyota of DM first and they didn't want to work with him.

Thanks Ryan, I've heard the same thing about the difference between Des Moines and Ames dealerships. We'll see how it goes tomorrow, my daughter is REALLY stoked about this car but I have to convince her that we can't let the dealership know that!

My daughter bought the 2010 Camry SE, Toyota Certified with 31,000 miles. It's a really nice car, I was almost wishing I was buying it! Wilson Toyota was great to deal with and I'll definitely go there for my next Toyota.

LOL, I suggested that and she said NO. She had her heart set on a black Camry with a sunroof and I'm glad we found a good one and got the first one we looked at.

You saw me?? I literally didn't go more than 3 miles from my house and back, haha. Had to meet the DNR officer up at Bass Pro for him to sign the registration paperwork.
