Dude... sad. It's been 2 1/2 years since this was posted. Certainly I'm not the first other person in NoDak? Please say there's someone else in ND?

Just moved here, and wondering... there's some badass badlands out there. So where is all the off roading? I'm looking for some lightweight off roading. My truck is not lifted, nothing special on the tires currently, just the 16" BF Goodrich things it came with, and I have basically no experience off roading. So... in skiing terms, I don't want to try a double black diamond when I belong on a bunny slope.

    Anyone? *Echo*

    Welcome to TW!

So far I really love the badlands. I "live" in Bismarck but work anywhere from Dickinson to Belfield, and Watford City to New Town. Spend half my time outside of Bismarck.

Hey thanks. I didn't even know there was a map like that, but I've been driving around all this grassland area wondering where all the cool stuff is- found some of it but there's so much area to cover! Working just south of Watford City right now, maybe 15-20 miles from town. I'll definitely get up there Monday and get a map.

Be prepared for some brutal winters up there. GF is ALWAYS cold.. and flat. I dont think there is much for offroading up there. Western and south are the best for trails and offroading in general.

Looking pretty likely that I'll be spending my summer about an hour north of Williston. Woohoo

I have family in that area. Supposedly there are some decent offroad trails around the williston area

Finally up here, north of Ray about 20 miles. Green fields for ever, not to sure on the off roading part, but haven't gotten too far out of here except to run to williston or minot for whatever. Super wet too. Not how I imagined ND. Very pretty.

    Busy place.

My grandparents used to own a lumber yard in Ray. Im familiar with the area. Not really sure of wheeling spots though.

I'm debating moving to Fargo I grew up in Southern California until I was about 21 and I spent the last 12 years in Las Vegas so I know nothing about cold areas or snow if we ever wanted to see the snow we would drive to it have fun and then drive home where it was warm again at the end of the day LOL just kind of looking for any advice or anything I should be worried about moving to an area like this not knowing anything about it I have a job offer from a friend that pays pretty good and I think this would be a good move for my family I'm sick of living in the city I want to be way more out in the country I love off roading I want to start hunting there's not much of it out here in Vegas or the surrounding areas and I thought this would be a great place to do those kind of things

What kind of job? Fargo is a pretty extreme cold to move to. Takes a special breed IMO. It's damn cold up there. Talking to the folks in Williston, seems like once winter hits it's a mass exodus and things calm WAY down. I haven't experienced winter there but I'm from WY so I have an idea of cold and it's colder in ND.

Also, if Fargo is anything like Minot/Williston then there isn't much in the way of public land. Theres hunting but seems like you have to know somebody with land who will let you hunt. Can't say for sure how it works. Also isn't much in the way of off road or trails. If you know somebody with a farm theres probably mud holes to play in but you're not going to find trails (assuming it's like the other side of the state which I think it is).

If you could find a job in N. Nevada I'd say move here. You'd be a lot happier I think.

Yeah heard it was snowing yesterday in Williston and today too I guess.

Also, how does concrete work in the winter? I understand that it's pretty well a no go until it warms up?
