Not many places to take a truck off-road legally here. Kansas and Colorado have a lot more options. I see lots of tacomas around here but they sure aren't on tw.

Halsey National Forest was a good place if you don't mind messing around in sand. There was rumor they were going to cut back on trails you could drive your truck on due to new EPA rules. Probably could do a quick google search to see if it went through. Lot of quad trails to ride on as well. When we went, we always camped on the south side by the river. If nothing else, good place to get away from town and relax. Kansas has some areas around Manahattan (tuttle lake?) if I remember right. Pretty rocky and lot of rock crawlers from NE head there in jeeps. Lot of tough trails (for NE/KS) and rock out croppings in areas. Again, check the web.

I haven't been out to the lake since early January. I hope to get to wheel a bit this weekend down by humboldt. We all should get a meet together sometime. Even if it was in Kansas.

Just was out at Halsey, Lots of trails still open. Didn't find anything closed. We were the only ones out on the HLV trails, Everyone else was OHV, quads, bikes, and side by sides. Was a pretty good time.

Been in Omaha a year. I moved out here from Phoenix, where wheeling is all over the place. I am dying to just find a logging road or backroad or SOMETHING. I never had a truck but bought one for the snow here, anybody know of somewhere I could just bounce around a little?

Halsey National Forest isn't too bad, mostly sand trails. I was out there about a month ago. Expect to open a lot of barb-wire gates as you go through the different sections, definitely handy to have a passenger to help with that. While I was on the trails I didnt run into any other trucks, only atv's and bikes. There are some other roads etc out in the sandhills that you can find too. The nearest actual 4x4 parks are in kansas.

    Hey Swendling,
So the trails are still open, thats good. Last time I was out there was with my 2000 tacoma about 2 yrs ago, so I have yet to take my 07 out. Did you get the chance to do the hill climb on the east side of the park?

Nah, Never found the one everyone seems to talk about. Found one kinda close to the dismal, but it didn't seem worth it, too much risk involved.

I have also been wondering about some good places to go wheeling close by but it doesn't seem like there is anywhere. Except for Tuttle Creek State Park in Kansas I guess..
