Yep - "Topo" as in "Topographic"... The guy who made all the maps and terrain models for the SEALs, Recon, TRAP and BLT, etc teams.... breifed the Area of Ops, etc.

That's what I used to do and I happed to know the dude that did that on the Kearsarge during the Kosovo campaign.

Being a 53-Avionic Tech, you may not have interacted much with the 2 man Topo team... but I thought I'd tell ya anyway. :)

    RIP Lucy.
    She's gone but not forgotten.
While in the Air Force I went to our dorm dayroom. There were 4 marines sleeping on the floor. My dorm chief wanted to call the SPs on them and have them thrown off base. I talked him out of it, he left. One of the Marines rolled over and said "thanks man, come with me". We went out in the parking lot, where there was a pickup truck, the bed was full of ice and cans of beer.

Got hammered with the Marines that night. Bunch of awesome guys. They made me a "Honorary Marine" and told me I was a brother and if I ever needed, they'd be there.

One of the highest points and best memories of my USAF time.
