Think about this too at 21 you are going to be considered "old" so get ready for a lot of pissing and moaning from younger soldiers you will deal with the entire time. ........ enough ranting already/...............

lots of push ups/sit ups/ running. I'm sure like AF basic, memorizing rank, service song, etc will help out with tests/getting yelled at/etc

Yeah that is the standard number the military authorizes you to get a day. It does not have to be consecutive..........

PT. I would also spend some time learning the rank structure and some of the basic history, traditions, customs, etc... One less thing to worry about once you get there.

Find out what events the PT test consists of, be able to to at least that amount before you report. Don't call the Drill Sergeants sir! Good luck and thank you for serving your country.

I went thru back in 64. 1964 that is. 12 weeks of basic was a trip. First 7 weeks was hard then it eased up a bit. Not much. Last 3 weeks was called second phase. Get your PT started now. All these guys have good info. If you happen to meet a kid from Altus Ok and his name is Travis. That will probably be my grandson. His brother is in Iraq right now at Balad AB. Security Forces. Due home in about 3 weeks.

Yep. Work on cardio, strength, endurance. Make sure you are good to go on weight. Your life will be hell if you're not.

Track down the manual for common tasks for your branch of service. (Navy?)

Learn your LEFT and your RIGHT.

You WILL screw up. Even if you did it perfectly, you are wrong. Learn from it and move on.

Other than that, just enjoy it. It's hard but you'll remember it for the rest of your life.

Aside from what everyone else has already said....remember it's a game. I'm talking about all the yelling, insulting, and everything your drill sergeant/company commander is going to throw your way. The whole point of boot camp (aside from the PT aspect) is to get you into a certain frame of mind. They do all the yelling etc. to try to break you down...and then when you think it cant get any worse and just want to give up, they build you back up. But when I say it's just a game.....don't treat it as a game...take it seriously but just know there is a reason you're being treated like shit. Don't take any of it personal, and learn from it.
