Someone please kick me in the nuts

I replied to an e-mail that my buddy sent and accidentally sent it to the person I was talking bad about.

I tried to recall it, but the SMSgt(E-8) doesn't come in for another hour, that's when I'll find out if it's successfull.

**This is meant to be a "OMG that sucks" thread. I don't need a lecture about protocol. Trust me I feel like shit.

What ended up happening?

 

what's done is done. don't sweat it.

if they see it, you go up to them and tell them you were heated when you wrote it and that you're sorry.

eventually this will be a funny moment in your past. good luck.

Oh nooooo. That sucks OP. We have like an instant messaging through our computer system at work. I sent my boss a msg talking about him and it was not worded as nice as yours. But I got lucky, I took the walk of shame to his office, hoping to talk my way out of it and he was not there! Msg deleted!

The ironic thing is it's the truth. My supervisor and my officer in charge can't wait for the outcome. Everyone's been thinking it, but I guess I get the priviledge of conveying it. FML.

There's no back to have. It was my fault and I take full responsibility.

 

Yeah, I did send it. Because the recall worked on my buddies end. Now the dilemma. Do I wait to see if the recall was successful or just man up and bite the bullet before hand?

The problem is recalls work differently depending on the user's e-mail program. Even recalled e-mails will still show up in mine in the preview section and will only disappear if I click on them. Also, the recall notice isn't sent until the person opens their e-mail. Recalling e-mails is hit or miss, I do it frequently and it works probably 90% of the time (I don't recall for the OP's reason but because information changes so quickly in my job).
