long drive in my taco...

To make a long story short, the Army messed up (impossible I know) and enrolled me in the wrong course, and I just drove the 22 hours from Mass to Ft Leonard Wood in two days and tomorrow I get to turn around and do it again... Great! At least it's in my comfy baby and not my wifes mariner again...
All kidding aside we've all done some very long drives alone, and I figured something out over the last trip that really helped me stay awake. Instead of listening to music the whole way, I tried stand up comedy on pandora and then I listened to an audiobook... And what a difference. You have to listen so its like having someone with you to keep you up, try it next time you have to drive a great distance alone, I know I will...

 

WOW! The army never messes up! I am honestly astonished!(says in his most sarcastic voice ever) Sorry to hear that man that sucks! In those situations i roll the window down and yes stand up works great! i like tosh stand up personally. also if you are too tired pull off and rest! i know I've made the mistake and it stays with you a long time!

 

Oh I definitely hear you there I plan my stops and I don't drive at night but anyone who's driven through Illinois or Indiana can tell you a good night sleep wont keep you awake in that shit haha

 

Great tip on the comedy and audio book ... I've done the comedy stuff before, but never put it in context. I've also done the drive across Illinois/Indiana (stationed a Scott AFB near St Louis twice) ... you're right it gets a "little" flat and boring. Take care on the road. Be interesting to see how soon after you get back they decide to send you back again. At least you'll know the route.

 

I get to drive from ATL to seattle in two years when I move there.. kind of looking forward to the cross country trip.. with lots of pics

 

Curious Rusty...and can't remember if you've covered it before ... what drives the two years until you move to Seattle? Is that just the plan?

 

my wife will be out of nursing school and we have been there a few times and they pay more for RN's than ATL

 

That makes sense...some beautiful country round there. I've got a good friend living in Tacoma.

Haha its fine, yeah I've made the trip to missouri at least once a year now for the last three... I'm sure ill make it twice this year, if not three... Fml lol

 

I noticed a good trick to is leave right after it gets dark and by the time your are getting tired the sun is out and it helps keep you awake.
