So I've got about 6 months left in the Navy, and my workload has been pretty light lately. Thinking about getting a part time job on the side to put away some extra cash for when I get out... Anyone else in the military do this?

I don't but some of my guys do. As long as it doesn't conflict with your job.

I worked at Home Depot for a bit back in Montana. I worked the missile field so I worked 5 days on 3 or 4 off.

Cool thanks for the replys... I'm thinking about autozone (there's one right near my house) or Big 5 sporting goods (I worked at a big 5 for like a year and a half before I joined the navy)

Yeah it was a pretty good deal for a single guy but for families it sucked. We stayed out 5 days straight not 5 days and go home every night haha:D

I never did; but a lot of my buddies had part time jobs when they were getting close to getting out. I had one buddy who ended up staying in California for a while because he had a decent job. I say go for it; in today's economy you are going to need all the help you can get.
