BUPERS On Line finally shows me with 20 good years in Naval Special Warfare. I intend to punch out ASAP. Any tips from you retired guys on getting my ducks in a row prior to being piped ashore for good?

I can't offer much advice as I only did 11 years active, but congratulations on making it to 20 years, and thank you for the massive sacrifices all along the way. You sir are a true patriot.

Make sure you have a copy of your medical record.

I'm guessing you have plans on where you're settling down. That's first, next thing is finding your next career path (you'll change this a couple times more than likely). I settled near Wash DC since Quantico was my last duty station and I liked it here more than other places. The opportunity for new careers and jobs were plentiful as well as military installations with medical/commissaries/exchanges/hobby shops/etc. I kept a copy of my medical and dental, etc, but it honestly has never come into play yet. Use your leadership experience and security clearance heavily in your resume and you'll see that there will be a lot of interest. Depending on what path you take (I took a public policy path) buy yourself a couple suits and start learning what "business attire" is. hahaha. Seriously though....I'll be happy to assist in developing your resume and helping out in anyway possible.
PS. Congrats on making it to 20! Now you start seriously raising your quality of life!

    Thanks, all.

    VirginiaMarine,

Extra intel. I am currently a Reservist so career is already staked out. Though it would be nice to look for something different that would take into consideration my clearance. I have a nice clearance and it's good for another 3.5 years.
