Brian you probably crossed paths with my brother in law. He was an EM3 on the Lincoln for the first Gulf War.

I am sure it has been said, but 90% wash out of the BUD/S and SWCC has a high attrition rate also. Have some rate you can fall back on. You can go Gunners Mate and get the "A" that is 6 months long and you wold required to attend the PT for BUD/S Candidates before and after class and 3 of the guys I went to A school with made it to the Teams. The other 5 I knew that washed, were sent to the fleet as Gunners Mates and went right into a career as a GM instead of undesignated and dealing with chipping and painting in Deck Division.

I miss the good aspects like the brotherhood and the accomplishing something that benefits more then 1 person.

I do not miss the inspections, duty days, sea and anchor detail pulling in after a deployment or the BS boot Officers who felt they knew more then you after 2 weeks onboard when I had been on 3 deployments before he even started college.
