all i can say from personal exp is that when you go to meps. get what you want!

i screwed myself over casue i was in a rush to get in. they wouldnt let me go infantry cause my score was high so i said f it and just got a signal mos right now and will have to reclass and go 11b and back to benning. so if they try to do anything like oh we cant do that, then just say ok ill be back next time and more than likely youll get them to stop acting like fools

thanks guys appreciate all the info! I scored a 70 out of 99 on my ASVAB test which I think is good...? ha but I'm going to the office or something to see which jobs are available, if they do not have exactly what I'm looking for available I'll probably leave or something.

good idea man. just think of it like this. your volunteering for this. your not being pressured. so its your 4-8 years of your life your serving for the military so make sure its a job or mos that you want. but good luck man!

If your looking at the Army your ASVAB score really doesn't mean much. Its your GT score that determines jobs available, some MOSs is your ST score. Wait until the job you want becomes available.

If that is the case then how will I know if I have not taken those test?

They are a part of your line scores on the asvab. When you take the asvab the score you get is a general score. However each section of the asvab corresponds with certain sections or line scores. For example you will have a score for admin, mechanical, elec, food, como, cmbat and so on. There are 9 seperate line scores. Then there is your GT or General Technical score. Which is an average of your other scores. Usually outside of meps your ASVAB score in the army mean little to nothing. So ask your recruiter to see your line scores and your gt score. These are what usually determine the jobs available to you. That and the needs of the Army at that time. But as I said earlier if the job you want is not available at that time you can always wait until that job is available.

I am in the army and work on the Apache. My MOS is 15Y, AH-64D Apache Armament/Electrical/Avionics Systems repairer. basically i do the electrical, avionics, weapons, and sighting systems for it. mostly its electrical and we do more troubleshooting on the aircraft than the crewchiefs do. in fact, they try to pawn everything off on us.

the reason i joined the army was because of choice of MOS. i scored a 98 on my asvab wih a 128 GT score. i basically could choose any job i wanted to. i have been in since oct 2003 and even tho i leave in 2 days for my third deployment since marc 2005, i still glad i joined, and dont plan on gettin out until my 20 years is done

Every branch has it's SOF (Special Operations Force) side. You have to volunteer and try out for that organization. Each branch's SOF side is a little different. Better pay, better operations, more schools, and more networking are just the beginning of being over on that side of the house. There are some more bennie's but you don't truely appreciate those until you make it over to the other side.

I am not going to debate which is better, and unless someone is in it and has experience working with each SOF branch then no one else would. Besides, a true professional wouldn't get into that in the first place.

I have over 12 years in SOF and am still active in it. I love it and am glad to be over here.

really? your brother was in the air force too and can compare all aspects of each to eachother? i speak from experience when i say that AF basic training was not too tuff, however once i got to pararescue indoc and farther along in the pipeline...whole nother world

mad respect for your brother who's a marine and volunteered to serve his country. i'm just saying there's alot more to the USAF than most people know.
