Military Posers On Halloween

Don't know about you guys but it freakin pisses me off when I see a civilian wear military uniforms when they weren't in themselves.

For example, on Halloween day, I headed to my local surplus store and what do ya know, it was packed with last minute shopping people. What stuck out the most was 2 scumbags wearing an Army ACU uniform and USMC digital woodland marpat.

The guy wearing the Army ACU was chubby, had a shitload of hair, wearing really baggy trousers, had black boots on, American flag, had "U.S. Army" name tape, both collars were up, and a E-2 rank on his chest. I questioned him and turns out he was never in the Army. He looks like he's in his 20s. Also I saw him leave in his POV, window down, arm sticking out. Anybody could've mistaken him as a real Soldier...

Same goes for the other douchebag wearing USMC digital woodland marpat. Only this time, there wasn't any name tapes or EGA on his breast pocket. He purchased "SGT" chevrons, was wearing black boots, and was never in the service. He looks to be in his 40s.

I understand if little kids dress up as military but if you're an adult, seriously - WTF! GET A LIFE! GO ENLIST AND WEAR THE UNIFORM FOR REAL!

Later that night, I went to a club and saw another douchebag. A guy in his 20s wearing the Army ACU field jacket with U.S. Army name tape, last name of "Wat," had a SGT MAJOR rank on, and wore ear rings. I was there with a fellow Marine and Army buddy. Guess what? A U.S. Army National Guardsman SSGT was there in uniform, too, but he was legit. We proceeded to question the douchebag and same thing, he was never in. He was a bit intimidated by our presence so he hid somewhere in the middle of the dance floor for the rest of the night.

Fukin' douchebags, get a life! This is an insult to former and present servicemembers. They were lucky it was Halloween, otherwise, I would've fcked them up!

/rant off

"GySgt Ableman was keen enough to spot this douche-bag walking through the Reno Airport in full dress blues with gloves and cover on. He stopped him near the baggage claim and running into three Drill Instructors wasn't something this guy had anticipated. If any of you know Gy Ableman, this kid was lucky to leave with all his teeth intact.

From the get go, it was obvious this kid was not a Marine. He claimed to be a PFC (wearing LCpl chevrons) and could not explain what a PFC chevron looked like and then couldn't explain the NCO stripe on his trousers. He had a collar emblem in the middle of his barracks cover and his belt was sticking out. No ribbons or badges, his trousers were way too long, not to mention he had on Sketcher boots instead of dress shoes and a civilian belt. We found this out after we demanded that he take off the blouse and cover.

Turns out he bought the uniform from a surplus store and his dad is a retired Navy Chief. Reno is a super-pro military area and this guy was soaking in the atta-boys. Lot of posers out there, watch out! Know any recruiters in the San Diego and Reno areas, send them a warning to watch out for this turd."

Damn fakes!

Yeah I completely agree with you on all of it, I wonder if they dress up to try to get more personal attention, or get numbers.
But I really don't care why they play dress up, if your not in the service than don't wear the uniform, disrespect in my opinion.

I over heard a guy in a bar one night talking about how he was a Green Beret and blah blah blah to a couple girls. He was talking about being in trashcanistan and all this bull shit. He had a high and tight hair cut and everything. Well I thought perhaps he could have been legit so I went over and questioned him in front of the girls, just talking to him normally, shoot the shit a little. I backed him into a conversational corner where he admitted to me he was a fake and just did it to get chicks, he apologized to me and my Army friend and thanked us for our service. He then asked us not to kick his ass. I just laughed and told him to leave, he did. These people can really piss me off sometimes, but if it's just a guy in civvies making shit up, it's not worth me going to jail. Good thing about being in Italy is we're hated by everyone for being American Military, so we have no posers haha.

unless the person is dressed and trying to pass themself off as a service man. I mean come on I ran around in my Dad's stuff when I was younger just playing around of course. I mean I have a heavy winter camo jacket in my closet now. I wear it out every so often. There is no name and no stripes and all but I mean come on.

I saw i guy on halloween that was wearing a legit flight suit, here is where it gets funny. he had tapes that said U.S. Air Force and lol.............Goose. He also had Senior Airman stripes on the front part of his sleeve with Captain's bars on his collar. Got out of the truck to go ask him for a pic, but I left my phone on the kitchen table. I wish i could have gotten a pic.

I agree with wearing the uniform while pretending to be in the service is BULL!! The halloween costume could go either way. Kids have a green light on playing soldier, more power to them. Adults, not so much. I REALLY hate the whole military clothing as fashion. Celebs and the sort are always wearing parts of uniform as fashion. Dress blue blouse with army SGT chevrons upside down...things like that. They find it cool and fashionable to wear the uniform that so many people gave thier life for. I think if you arent in the service, dont wear the uniform. Maybe you can wear a gortex camo jacket or the like. Dont wear current uniform items. Wear old woodland camo or vietnam era green. And never wear rank or insignia. Just my $0.02...

P.S. That poser in the dress blues should have had his ass kicked. I would have asked one of the counter people to make an announcement over the PA system and point the kid out!!

There is new law that just passed in congress called the Stolen Valor Act which makes it a Federal Crime to do this. All you have to do is detain the person and call the police.

I understand that is halloween and there is a line that you have to draw. If someone is out there wearing the uniform incorrectly and looks all jacked up then they are probably not in the service. It is the ones that are out there trying to use the position to get something out of someone. It is the guys that put on the CMH or multiple purple hearts and then try to get people to give them stuff because they are a "hero". Sorry I have 3 Purple Hearts and I would never use that fact to get anything.

I served in the Marine Corps during Desert Storm and Somalia, plus I am now serving in the US Army. I have a combined 6 combat tours, three just in the last six years and there is no way that I would let some douchebag wear a uniform that has never served a day in his/her life. This stuff just pisses me off to no end. When I wear my dress uniform in public I dont ask for anything I wear it because I am proud to wear it. Plus it looks cool!!

I believe the stolen valor act only applies to those wearing military medals and passing themselves off as having earned them. I think they can still wear the uniform.

There is nothing wrong with people wearing the camoflouge/acu what ever uniform as long as they take all of the patches off of it. Hell I wear my old BDU's out hunting or screwing off out in the woods, they are awesome.

I don't know man, we go out and see people, NOT KIDS, but adults like this. It is one of the most aggrevating feelings. I went through the steps to wear the uniform and it really makes me mad to see it misrepresented.
