One last thing ... whatever you are asked to do in any of your jobs ... do the best job possible (especially in the military) ... some might razz your zzzz but still do your very best. It will pay off big time later.

You are a winner ... you just don't know it yet grasshopper ... :D

PS ... Get in the best shape you can (mentally & physically) before boot camp too.

My best advice for you is don't give up. You are going to be on the bottom of the food chain for a couple of years and a lot of people can't take the pressure. You will get treated like crap if you're on a boat. Once you make rate...you'll be golden. You're still gonna come across the occasional dickhead....just don't give up.

Tell me that when I get to go land and hit the head and get a snack between search patterns while you are chilling out there the whole time....

    Just a few
This is very true, I always get jelly when they go "fuel up" and take their sweet time while we're still out there doing search patterns and don't get a break.

    :lalala:

We get called out for search patterns when the weather is so bad ya'll are scared to fly. But I have seen some pretty damn good flying from some of those Alaska Patrol guys.

    :p

Its not that were ever scared to fly...its because the weather is socked in down to the water... if we can't see anything then what's the point.

O's can't fly unsupervised :). I think I enjoy what I do more than flying. I fly as a hobby still...soloed when I was 16. My chief was an enlisted pilot. :)

I never actually finished my PPL. I was learning througout high school, and the rainy season kicked in before I could finish my cross country hours. I left town and finally got back in the area last year. I told my flight instructor I'd be around this summer, but he became ill awhile back and passed away about a month ago. One of the most influential men in my life, he also pretty much gave me all my flight time for free. So now here I am, only a few hours away from getting my PPL, just never finished it. For now I stick to flying RC of all kinds, and occasionally I get some random flight time, like going up in a T-34 last month :) I live and breathe aviation, I've practically lived on an airport since I was 14.

I'm surprised there are more of us on here! I have 06 Tacomas at my base (Sector St. Pete) alone! I tell everyone to go on here. Maybe they just don't know how great this place is...or how addicting.

    Stay safe guys!
