Well at least that’s what I was told in not so many words, when I arrived at Bergstrom AFB in 1986 to work RF4C's along with some G's when they came in. I knew I was in a bad place when being driven down flight line road there was a fenced in area with what looked like a lot of torn up plane parts. I asked the SMSgt Driving me what that was a junk yard or something he said no it is what’s left from a plane that crashed during an incentive ride. ( Mind you I did not know what an incentive ride was so I checked that off as find out what it is and NEVER volunteer lol) Now the second thing he said after I asked about the age of the planes was " I would rather have a daughter in a whore house then be a sheet metal mechanic on an F4 Base". At this point I am like Jesus what did I sign up for :} lol these were 1962 through 1967 models ( A lot of these planes were 2 or 3 years older then I was at the time) Was transferred out after BAFB closed to DAFB and worked the trash haulers between 1992 and 1996 went reserves and retired in 2010. Over the years worked on a lot of different things from museum stuff to the Concorde when the Queen flew in for something near by , 130's. 141's F15, F16, in Desert for the first edition of bomb them to the stone age so got to play/help on A/C 130's , F-18's,F-14, EA-6's ( they are louder then an F4 didn’t think that was possible for such a small plane.)

Gotta be SrA Fisher, she's the only girl in our shop. I've actually only worked with her once, she got there when I was leaving to be a FTD instructor.

theres a -220 on a trailer to the left(not pictured)

people asked a lot about how the system worked, great design but a bit of a pain sometimes...sheered stub shafts and pawl carriers were never a fun job on-wing
