You don't even have to read the whole article. Who are these idiots that talk to the media about classified information during a major offensive operation? I see this crap all the time. Classified information is usually classified for a reason!

"The official declined to be identified because a declassified version of the document has not been made public. The directive is signed by Gen. Stanley McChrystal, the top NATO commander in Afghanistan, the official said."

That is one thing that the media should be limited in saying. If it is classified and you knowingly put it up. Big fines for you. Especially when it can put soldiers in danger.

I agree. However, the article you are referring to reveals little to anything "classified" rather yet another observation regarding the perpetual evolution of modern "rules of engagement". I have more faith in our military in controlling information, and even suspect most perceived leaks are in fact intentional.

The "official" should not even be talking about the directive. You do bring up a good point of leak being intentional...

“A military operation involves deception. Even though you are competent, appear to be incompetent. Though effective, appear to be ineffective.”

They should make an example of one of these fuckers and shoot them in front of a firing squad to remind people how this country was formed and to get their heads out from their asses. We have become so pussified in this country. Remember why Japan did what they did (or at least tried to do).
