Canyonlands has strict rules for about how many rigs can occupy a campsite. The limit is 3 rigs and 15 people. I asked about what happens if we have a 4th, they indicated that offenders will be escorted out of the park and there could be fines for the offense.

Kinda harsh I thought but maybe they have had problems in the past. In any case we aleardy have 3 rigs camping so we are at the limit now. We might have an empty seat but I will have to check on that.

I will say that you or anyone else is welcome to join us on the trail itself. If you get an early start on Tuesday morning, I expect we will break camp by 8:00 am and head south on White Rim Rd. from there to do the remainder of the trail.

I don't think there are any restrictions on how big the group is for the trail itself, only camping.

Anyone in the group running the Thursday Trifecta have a winch? I'm trying to get one by then but it might not happen. It would be nice to have one in the group just in case.

Cool. I doubt we'll need it, but it's good to have one in the group.

yep. which is why I said I doubt we'll need it. Honestly the only reason I see us truly needing a winch is in the case of a rollover.

Just want to be prepared. I've got plenty of recovery gear as well, minus the winch.

wheelbase really wouldn't effect rollover potential...

larger tires and high center of gravity normally attributes to high rollover potentials

ledges pose risks of rollovers especially with ifs...drop one tire going down, you're risking having a back corner lift up

going up ledges while the trail turns runs the risk as well in any vehicle...there are rollovers out there showing this risk

I'm just looking forward to running the trails and watching the faces on the Moab first timers. I doubt that anyone on the trip will have a rollover. I'm sure all the trails will be a blast. Just makes me laugh to listen to 'web wheelers' talk about what they've seen and read on the web and somehow they are now an expert on a certain trail or area before they've even been there.

You can do all the math you want, real world situations have way more variables and the fact is an end over rollover like that first video is very rare compared to a roll to the side. Theoretical scenarios on paper will never replace true seat time and knowing the limits of your truck through real experience.

Physics most definitely apply, but there are more variables than you are considering. I guess you must know more than I do about this whole thing so I'll just go back to mumbling and drooling on myself.
