ok, let me start by saying thank you to everyone commenting. i had no idea in one day it would blow up to 4 pages!

i agree with so many things adam is bringing up its crazy... but i do also agree an over planned event is no fun. from my experience, rising sun does a great job planning everything they do, not just cm. but everything they do is very strict and imo over planned.... here's where i personally am at....

camping: I really feel confident that we could not find a better, more off road friendly place to camp and hold headquarters than BFE. Especially for the price. I agree 100% with the bathroom comments. trust me, the gf gave me an earful lol..... we will fix that for next year.

also the camping sites, being set apart for party people and what not. absolutely, we should try to cater to everyone's needs in that regard. there is plenty of room for everyone to camp comfortably. maybe we can throw a survey together before the event that everyone will fill out asking them their preferences on camping, trails, shirts, etc.......????

    registration/tech inspection:

this is where we will have to figure out what we can afford to do(permits)... if we charge people to attend that brings about much more headache. but if we dont we must come up with money(ideally sponsors) to pay for toilets, permits and trash.

A waiver will def. be signed by everyone who attends this year. it covers everyone's ass and its just a good idea.

As for the tech, sure ill look at all your pos's!!!!!!! and tell ya whats wrong with them, LOL. jk jk jk, imo i think that is up to the driver to have a truck that is ready to go. I think we r all under the same understanding that shit happens on the trail and sometimes the road gettin to camp:D
But it is our(owner and driver of the truck) to try our best to make it so we don't have problems. i know for myself, i went through my truck with a fine tooth comb before the trip. And from what i experienced and heard, everyone was more than happy to help when another member was in need.

    Trails:

this again depends on what we are able to swing with blm and moab. I like the idea of having a set amount of trucks that can run a trail. once it fills up, then its done. But to make it all fair, we would have to try and make it available to everyone at the same time somehow. the top 3 trails list works but what a hassle for someone to assign trails to each member. especially when many people have no idea what trails they want/can/with whom run.... that will be a hard one to figure out. i liked how our white board worked out. we can make it a little more organized next year by assigning times for leaving and trail leaders. i don't think we will go as far as printing trail leader packets. if ur a trail leader its pretty clear what ur position is.

    Venders:
This is also a hard one to comment one at this moment because of how early it is. I know everyone would love for the last night to have lights and music and free stuff and the opportunity to talk with venders. but we're not quite there yet. this last one was kind of a trial run for many venders. they gave us some free stuff to give away and helped with donations, however many did not show up physically in person. This year clearly we r shooting for then TO show up and wheel with us! TG has already told us they r planning on bringing the crew and wheelin and unveiling some products with us! But things can change and we can only keep talking nd pushing for in person representation....

Bbq: great idea! if we did a huge bbq and venders having their stuff all out on the last night. That would be epic! :spy: Jerry, get to welding Again, we have to think about money... sux but its reality. food is expensive for that many people. and obviously toilets and trash are priority. we will have to use Bob's accounting skills to budget. It all funnels back to how we will obtain the money in the first place...

Again, thanks so much for the replies. and we forgot to mention, if u can think of a possible sponsor we should contact plz drop a line.

tech inspection is still good. I've been to events where I thought I prepped my own rig perfectly, but there was something I missed and it was caught during the inspection. Fortunately for me it was a simple fix but could have been serious had something gone wrong if no one found it for me.

For 99% of the people attending, tech inspection will be a breeze and nothing to worry about. It's that 1% that you want to catch just so you don't find yourself having to deal with injuries and pissed off people.

I agree with the inspection bt was wondering how it will work. I do mine before every trail but I know not everyone does. That being said, is someone going to baby sit and make sure everyone does? and I agree that it sucks to help someone out all day on an already long trail. We did it this year on the KC run with the guy who had no sliders and a BL with 35's. Kind of sucked but was no big deal. But I dont think a trail leader sould be able to tell someone they cant go, but I mean that to a certain extent. I know some trucks cant make certain trails but no one can judge another person's skill especially if they dont know them. If hey do well then they are free to tell them to fuck off haha! I wheeled MOAB with nothing but a lift and tires, didnt even have a bumper. But I knew wha my truck could and coould not do. Just something to think about for those who are selected as trail leaders and think they should kick someone out of a group due to what the think is not enough experience.

I totally agree mike! Couldn't have said it better. Me, you, adam, monte, steve, gian all make it perfectly fine on every trail we tried and didn't run into a single issue and we all were unlocked. I think specific vehicle requirements for most trails is a bit of a stretch. If your rig is blatantly under prepared for the trail, the group will tell you before before you even leave the camp. I think for a lot of the little issues the community will self check and police it self. Also agree on not over planning it, which honestly looks like is the direction people are heading. Last year everything just...worked. People came in at all different times and had their own agenda and schedule but everything still worked and fell into place without any real hitches. It just goes a lot smoother when you have a big group of like minded people out to do the same thing and have fun. You don't need to heard them like sheep and give out tons of directions because if they made it down there...they will 99% of the time take care of them selves.

The same kind of little organizational things like we had last year were pretty good and could be expanded on. The white board with trail sign ups each day was pretty good. Maybe something like that can be expanded but instead of just a white board, we have a big bulletin board, by the vendor tents, that had tons of information about the week. It would have trail sign ups w/ trail leaders, descriptions about each trail and a rating, a basic schedule of things to happen for the week, a tech sheet so groups of people could do their own little vehicle checks, basic info on MOAB and BFE, a list of vendors e.c.t.

 nobody will let him live that down.

All great points jace:thumbsup: a waiver is a good idea and hopefully will clear up the need for a lot of little micro manage things.

With that being said, Bob, Jace, thank you guys so much for putting the event together last year. I had an epic time and it could have not gone any better. One of the coolest things I have ever done. Certainly looking forward to next year and if I can do anything to help, let me know:cheers:

I do think that the trail leader should have a bit to say if some ones rig is incapable of a trail, or if that leader does not want the responsibility of leading some one. There is a lot riding on the leader and hopefully he has good judgement to say yes or no to a participant.
Thats where as a leader, go on a trail or two and kind of keep an eye on those around them to see who has experience and who might be in over their head.

All in all, if some one is going going to be a leader, the whole group I king of riding on their shoulders

Yeah Mark, thats exactly what I mean. We had just about enough organization. I liked the fact that we hit the dunes and then just explored after that. Made for one of the most fun trail experiences I have ever had and I never would have had that experience if we had made a super specific trail map and followed a timed schedule. Mybe we can just make our own group and explore shit! I do think there were a few thins that could hve helped organize it better such as maybe getting together before hand to organize the camping ad what not. I am def bunking with the NW guys this time......No homo.

And I do believe that trail leaders shoul have some say. Thats why they are called leaders haha! But they should def be picked or nominated or whatever not just appointed. Which I am sure would be the right ones. Not saing that those that would be appointed would be wrong choices but I know it will keep cohesion in the group to know they are being led by someone that either they trust or that omeone else trust enough to nominate.

I didn't have any big issues with the trip...well..other then the obvious..

I enjoyed camping and meeting everyone one but i do agree that i think there should be desginated areas for the more quite campers then the party goers. I didn't care about the partying but some of us just want to kick back around the fire and chat usually.

All in all i think it was a great trip and a awesome support group for me especially

But im not sure i can afford to come next year either way as its a long ass ways for me. But we shall see.

dude don't mention it man, its alot of work but so fun to see it pan out. when we were all around that fire after giving out free swag, it doesn't get any better!

I agree, thats why its called a leader. And every leader should/will know whats expected of them. id rather we take a roll of people comfortable leading trails and see who wants to do it. kinda lax and let it flow. everyone is cool and is capable of being adults
