    So I am not really bringing any spare parts. I only have 10,000 miles on my truck. I know shit happens, but how realistic is breaking something on 3-4 trail ratings? I honestly don't even know what I would bring.

    I have a spare tire.

    If you want to get in on the Cruise Moab overnighter in the San Rafael Swell, I might be able to pull a few strings for you. The over night run during Cruise Moab is hosted by our club (Wasatch Cruisers). We just did our prerun last weekend down there. It's always one of the highlights of CM.

    CB question: I will be picking one up before the trip, and am pondering size/mounting of the radio. I have a great place to mount in on my storage box, on the bottom of the box next to where the water jug is in the pic below, but I obviously could not see it while driving and would have to lean back to make any adjustments.

    So, is a CB something that is often adjusted on a trail, or is it set it and forget it?

    The only thing that I occassionally adjust on the trail is the squelch. It's not really a knob you have to look at while adjusting though since you adjust it based on sound. As long as you can reach it, wouldn't be a problem. It's not something that you're constantly messing with though.

    We'll occasionally change channels if there is a lot of traffic on the channel we're on. Doesn't happen as often though.

    Edit: What radio are you looking at? The basic ones are pretty small in size and can fit in the center console.

    you may have to adjust the squelch but it's usually something you can set it at the beginning of the trail and be good. set the channel, check your squelch and keep the mic up front by you.

    I am looking at the Uniden PC68 Elite or PC78 LTW, maybe a Cobra 25. I also would prefer not to give up the console if possible.

    I know some who really don't like the look of the actual cb in their truck so they go with the Cobra 75. All the controls for the cb are on the mic and the "brain" (?) of the radio is hidden from view.

    Yeah, that is a good solution for space, but a little concerned about the volume and other problems I have read about in reviews. But without personal experience, hard to say.
