Heading out there with a bunch of friends that don't wheel, probably be camping out Kane Creek road near the start of the trail. No agenda for trails, but would like to run some that I have not done before, but am open for anything, especially if I have company. Leaving Thursday after work, but if anyone wants to join later on, just let me know!

Ended up running Fins and Hells on Friday and Metal Masher and Hurrah Pass on Saturday. I have run Fins and Hells a few times, but my friends rented a Jeep and had no wheeling experience, so they seemed like a good choice for beginners, as well as being Moab classics. I brilliantly forgot the battery to my camera, so all of my pics are from my phone, but my friend had her nice DSLR and got some pics from the Saturday run that I will get eventually.

We camped up Kane Creek road right before the trail head for KC, fantastic place to setup shop. Friday morning tent view:

A few from my phone on Fins and Hells, ran Hells Gate for the first time, cruised right up without any issue. A Frontier behind me flopped into the passenger side from poor spotting. Planned to give Escalator a try, but it was late in the day when we got there and the middle bump was full of water and giving the people ahead of me lots of trouble, so we moved on, but I will return!

Saturday headed out to Metal Masher. I had never been in the Gemini Bridges area before, and I must say it is pretty damn cool, with a ton of trails and amazing scenery. Made it up most of the optional obstacles and ledges, with the exception of Rock Knocker and Widowmaker.

Nice! Yeah the weather was perfect other than the rain before we got there Thursday which left lots of water in the holes on Hells, and wet sand here and there which caused some trouble in spots. What trails did you run?

Eyed up Rock Knocker and watched a guy try to get up Widowmaker.

We ran Kane Creek & Fins and Things.

I was only there for the weekend and my buddy prego wife was being crabby :p or we would have run more trails. Not sure I'll make it back before Spring of next year. :(

After running MM, headed back to camp, then up Hurrah Pass to watch the sunset, and damn was it awesome! The trail itself is not difficult at all, we got my friends Subi Forester up there no problem. While we were hanging out on the ledge over the canyon, we were watching a plane flying around below, then he came straight at us, pulling up at the last second and diving back over the other side of the pass, mighty cool to watch, I might have to take that ride one day.

It was pretty bad ass, similar view as from up Cliff Hanger. I want to explore the rest of the trails of the other side sometime too (Chicken, Lockhart, Jackson etc.) looks like a really cool area.

Had to actually do some work yesterday instead of play on here, can you imagine? :p

Nice, I remember looking through those when you first posted them. We camped on the other side of that rock you have camp pics of. When we were on top of Hurrah, we kept hearing people and couldn't figure out where they were. Eventually we figured out they were on top of the huge cliff/butte above us, not sure how you get up there, but I am sure it is amazing.

there's a lookout up on those buttes somewhere...lockhart trail brings you along the cliff below a lookout you can get too...the lookout is part of canyonlands NP

    http://www.traildamage.com/trails/index.php?id=315

i believe that's the area TD describes

edit: pretty sure that is it..."The trail ends at the Anticline Overlook where there is parking and another pit toilet. There is a half-mile, easy hike up to different sections of the overlook. If you have done other trails in the area you will probably be able to pick them out. From here, you can see Hurrah Pass, Kane Creek Canyon, Shafer Trail, Jackson Hole, Cliff Hanger and Lockhart Basin. You can also pick out many landmarks from here, including the bright blue potash ponds."

    :D

Wish I had a better camera when we were up there, that one is just an iPhone pano, not even one of the better phones either  I would head back up there in May if anyone was interested. Could make a nice add on to running Kane backwards, and end the day up there for sunset.

i'll be going through there most likely on our overland route to overland expo mid-may..looking at lockhart>elephant hill>beef basin>elk ridge>hotel rock>arch canyon

another fun day would be to head up lockhart to lockhart canyon (runs down to the colorado) then back with chicken corners added in there..

kane backwards would be a fun easy day too...just hope that no one is coming up on some of those tight sections

Tat sounds awesome, how many days are you planning for that?

The first (and only) time I ran it uphill, a few guys were coming down in Broncos and Chevys on 40"+ tires and told me there was no way I was going to make it up the cliff/hill section, I passed them driving back to our campsite on Kane Creek raod as they were headed out and just waived
