Trying to make it out to Moab next spring and just wondering how much fun I can have in my PreRunner. I have picked up the Moab trail guide and have read through it front to back. From the trail descriptions in the book it sounds like I should be able to handle most of the green rated trails (please correct me if I'm worng). White Rim is definitely a trail I would like to do but not sure if 2wd (even with a locker) would be able to handle it.

Vehicle is currently stock height with 265/70/16 AT's on it. Should I plan on doing a lift/bigger tires prior to my trip?

Any info/advice (aside from buying a 4wd) is much appreciated.

Your prerunner will be fine on a lot of the mild trails out there. But suggestion I can make is don't go alone. If you get into a place that your 2WD can't get you out, a buddy with a snatch strap will make all the difference.

On those mild trails a lift won't be necessary. White Rim should be doable. Long Canyon is beautiful and mellow. There are some fantastic roads in Canyonlands and the scenery there is unbeatable.

Sub'd. going to head out there for the first time sometime next year. Would love to know more info about what prerunners (or near stock 4WDs) can get away with out there...

As of now my plan is to head out there the 1st or second week of may. I am planing on getting to Moab late on a Sunday and doing the trails on Mon-Thur with leaving at least half a day to do a mountain biking run. I am putting together a list of which trails I would like to do and which day I'd like to them. I can keep everyone updated as the plan comes together if anyone is interested in joining for any of days.

If you wait a few weeks there will be close to a 100 trucks there for the annual event.

Lions Back is closed. But that was Baby Lions Back. And there is something similar just past the gate to Sand Flats Rd.

I wonder how much of Fins&Things could be done in locked 2wd with good driving and spotting.

If you are only going to do one mtb ride I suggest Porcupine Rim. You can grab a shuttle in town at one of the bike shops. Everyone talks about the Slickrock trail as a must ride but Porcupine is way more fun.
