    so i have been riding my 2004 honda crf250x since i bought it new in 2004 and im thinking its gonna be time for a new bike. so im thinking about getting the crf250r and just adding a bigger gas tank. has anyone rode the 2010 crf250r before. i mainly ride trails and stuff but i do a lot of jumping as well. any other bike suggestions would be nice aswell! thanks

    it will be a great improvement over the 04, Ive actually been looking into changing and getting a race bike and this is my first choice(no more KTMrider). The new EFI is great I have riddent it on a few tracks and the bike has some serious pull. I would upgrade if you have the cash.

    Definitely go for the R if you can go back to not having electric start after being spoiled lol. The fuel injection is just so nice when you change elevation.

    ya i dont want the electric start because it adds about 30 pounds to the bike and when i weight 225 myself it makes a big difference.

    Absoultly a great bike, I take it to Jawbone, Pismo, Gorman and all the tracks in the area. The 6 speed is really nice when going out somewhere where you go wide open. My local track is a small tight turned track so Im actually taking it in to get the top end built. My only complaint is that 1st and 2nd are a little too low for the track, but being that its not a track bike I really cant complain. I have a 08 I have a FMF megabomb and scilencer Blonix suspension and a few other little things. I bought it in jan of 09 for a steal and I have put 2k miles and 100 hours so Its getting ready for some work. I have had literally 0 problems with the bike and it is great. The KTMs in my opinion are the easiest bikes to work on, but have the most expensive parts. The hydrolic clutch is extremely nice feature and I think It will be hard for me to go back to a normal if I do get a honda. Overall super great bike tons of pull from mid to top end, but its just not what I need right now. Thats all going to change soon tho.

    well thanks for all the info. i had no idea they had hydralic clutchs so what are the differences between a standard clutch and a hydralic clutch?

    Hydros are powered by a fluid resovour(as I understand it), So as traditional clutches will have different pull strenghts as the bike warms up or the fluid gets hot or on a cold day, the hydro will stay consistant through all of this with nice clean non cable action so no worring about frayed cables or sand in the lines.

    this and you can pull the hydro clutch with one finger lol.

    yep and with the shorrty unbreakable sunline levers the rest of your fingers can relax

    washy, I haven't really had enough time to ride a honda, but its pretty similar, but the new hondas have steering dampeners so that must help some. Either one will do fine in the corners

    You just need to ride one. They are different at first but once you get used to it, they're great. (I have an '07 250 SX).

    I loved my KTM125 when I had it. It seemslike most ktms sit higher than other bikes, but that's just what I've seen. I now ride a yz250f, and it's really low compared to my old bike but I like it a lot better in the turns. Plus that four stroke torque is pretty sick :cool:
