sucks on the highway because there is zero wind protection and the fuel range is brutally low. 130kms/80 miles in the city per tank, 180kms/111 miles on the highway per tank. and the highway miles were with riding with the gas light on for 40kms/25miles.
you can buy a windscreen for it though which may help for highway riding, like on the hyperstrada.

    Here is my 2005 Ninja 500r. 6F996739-7682-4711-8C77-D37CCBC3BFB0_zps_dba9189017604e72b3e67e69e0573895e3b3b91d.jpg

I've been having some trouble with it. It is my daily driver to class and was wondering if anyone can help with my two problems

    1) I recently changed the front brakes and up front there is grinding/ scooping noise about once a rotation. I don't believe it has anything to do with the rotor because if it was wouldn't it shake while braking? It's been about 3 weeks so they should be bedded right?

    2) Also there is a grinding in the back when I brake. I believe I need new brakes in the back and found some pads online for cheap. However I cannot get this bolt off for the life of me. I can get the top one off just fine but the bottom is stuck
    DBFFBFB8-E239-4D78-BE4A-B45C73106598_zps_13a58c3b2fc3e683c9b4c60b962fbb00ea67d72d.jpg

I even twisted my hex key trying to get it off

Have any ideas how to get it off? I wish I could use a socket wrench. I called the local motorcycle shop and they quoted me $100 for changing it  so taking it somewhere is not really an option when I can do it for less than $15

Any help would be great! Thanks!

Sounds like you're front rotor is a little warped. Don't worry my 3000 mile bike does it sometimes to.
The rear rotor on your bike diff has grooves from grinding on worn out pads.
You probably should invest in a set of socket drive Allen heads. The bolt probably has thread locker on it.

My bike has 16750 miles :D maybe I should replace it. I wish I could just take it to a shop and have it all fixed but I know it will be over priced BIG time and I dont have the money for that being a college student
It's just really annoying because it makes me feel like I have a crappy bike that sounds like crap. It sounds like a big rattling piece of plastic most the time too (which I guess it is).
I didn't even think of getting socket allen heads! Ill buy some soon.

No offense, but proper maintenance on a motorcycle is something that keeps you from using the ground as a very effective skin removal system.

Motorcycle shop doesn't have to be who you take the bike to to get that one bolt out - but at least an auto mechanic will have more tools, a torch, impact tools etc. They'd probably charge you less than the motorcycle shop.

As far as the maintenance goes - know there are some Kawi forums out there with plenty of people willing to help. And I've got twice your mileage - just gotta be willing to get in there and start wrenching :)

Thanks man. Yeah I know a motorcycle isn't something you can skip out and still be safe. I've tried a couple Kawi forums and no one has answered my questions or isn't nice about it like on here! So just thought I would start here.

Gonna get a new windscreen for the gixxer. Should I go with blue to match the bike, or dark smoke?
