nice ^^, one of my favorite bikes. if it didn't cost me over $100 more a month for insurance i would have bought one of those instead of my hyper.

In 2013 Ducati came out with a new 821cc motor and only one size of the hypermotard with that motor. From what I was told it was a trial motor and since the hyper was their least selling bike, they put it in that. Apparrantly, the motor performed so well that they plan to use it in a few other bikes getting rid of all the different size cc motors like the 696 in the monster and I think some other bikes. That was from the salesman though, but after I had already purchased the bike!

I have always loved the monsters but its considered a sport bike so again, probably more then $100 a month more to insure. Insurance where I live is absolutely insane for motorcycles, especially sport bikes. The hypermotard, basically having all the sport bike specs and performance, is not considered a sport bike so insurance is about $1000 a year less then even a 12 year old 600cc sport bike.

nice thing here is that there's no classification of bikes, your insurance is only based on engine size

Depends on provider. Rider used to be the best around for rates and coverage if it was available in your state of residence. They just recently reclassified a shit ton of bikes into high performance category and their rates jumped 100+%. Meanwhile, most deaths in my area are on Hawgz...damn squids.

the classification here is, 0-500cc / 501-1000cc / and 1001cc and above, so 600's and 1000's are in the same category. plus when you do the monthly payment option, they calculate it to be all paid in the summer months, so my payments are $350 a month from may-sept and only $7 a month the other months. the catch there, is that you are extremely lucky to even get to ride for those 5 months because of the super long winter. it's quite a scam if you ask me, but i guess they know that people will insure for a year on the monthly payment plan, pay equal payments during the summer and then remove their insurance for the winter. so the insurance company takes as much as they can while the weather is nice

My insurance on my old CBR is about $3.80 a month. I shudder when I hear people talking about monthly insurance payments that are almost what I'm paying on my truck, my wife's car, and my motorcycle combined.
