125 or 250

I've rode motorcycles since I was about ten, I am now looking to get a dirtbike since I can't part with one of my cruisers for a cbr600, I am wanting to get a dirtbike but know if I get a 125 ill want a 250 but $$ wise a 125 would be ideal for weekend riding. Which would u guys suggest? Any thoughts would be appreciated

Get at least a 250, prolly a 450. Dirt is way different from street, but, you'll need/want more power very soon.

250 2-stroke or 450 4-stroke.

I was going to say 125, but you're experienced as a rider. As stated above, it's way different than street.

I say go for a 250, either 2 or 4 stroke depending on your preference (the 2 stroke version will be MUCH faster). I like 2 strokes myself because they are way cheaper to own.

where in NM are you?

Depends on how much you weigh and how much power you can handle too. If u r new to dirt, go w/ the 125 unless u weigh anywhere close to 200 lbs with gear. Get a Yamaha, there 1 of the few still making 2 strokes & priced right

Right about 190 w/o gear but the 125 will still have ample amount of power right?

Ur from Socorro u may know a Guy I played ball against, Johnny Chavez I believe. And back to the topic ur sayin a 2t 250, will say the 125 be enough to piddle around I mean I ain't trying to become a pro mx'r

for what you seem like you're looking for, a good actually setup by professionals 125 would be perfect

Im actually from corrales, just going to college in socorro.

but anyway, yeah a 125 will get up and go if you are a good rider, but a 250 just has so much more useful low end power. My KTM 250SX is way stronger off the bottom than my bro's 2010 YZ450F.

It'll have enuf power but you might need to upgrade the fork springs & shocks. You can always upgrade the exhaust, rejet carb & get a Quickshot, get a V-Force reed kit, etc. But for the cost of these parts you could just get a stock 250
