Good Price for a Ducati Monster

I found a 2007 Monster S4 for 10 grand, then a 2009 696 for $7295, are those good prices for these bikes. They seem to be in good condition. Anybody have experience with the Ducati Monster?

The S4 (i'm assuming S4R) is way overpriced. Nada has it between $6500 and $8500. The 696 also sounds high $4800-$6400. The two are going to be VERY different bikes as well. Your maintenance cost on the 696 is going to be much much lower if you plan to keep it for any length of time. In 2008 the valve adjustment intervals on Ducati's doubled in mileage making them cheaper to maintain but a lot. It is going to be much softer and more tame than the S4 though. 696 is a base model Monster and a great bike if you are new to riding, whereas the S4 was close to the top of the line model a couple years ago with 998cc motor and upgraded suspension and brakes.

The description above is pretty much right on.
S4R is liquid cooled, high performance. Basically the superbike motor in the monster frame.
The 696 is more of the "regular" monster. Still fun, but not the beast that the S4R is.
Those prices do seem high, but Ducati owners seem to ask a lot for used bikes. Unless they are low miles in pristine condition, I'd try to talk them down quite a bit.

No prob! You're on the right track shopping for a Duc if you ask me , you will love it as long as you buy one that's been cared for, or buy new.
