I agree, I have the Joe Hauler for single bike excursions and an enclosed 10'x6.5' for when I go on longer trips (fits 3 bikes) and an old RV for close trips if I stay a while (OMG the fuel costs are staggering!!)

But I hate having to drive 55, who does that? Even those big diesel pickups are towing 5th wheel trailers at 80mph!

Trailers are great for trips. Especially enclosed. But the carrier works great for day trips.

BTW, a few weeks ago, I was following a friend down to Pismo. He had two bikes on the trailer. I always watch stuff on trailers and I rarely follow them or open pickups-it's a habit I picked up riding motorcycles. Anyway, one of the tie-downs snapped and the bike fell over to the passenger side. It hung up in the trailer's fender as the pipe and bars drug on the freeway. We got pulled over pretty quick. So regardless of how you transport your bike, tie that thing down properly :D

You would definately like a tie-down bar like this:

    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2n...rcycle-tie-down-bar-best-one-you-can-buy.html

You will love not seeing the bike lean over through turns...

What is the tonge weight for our Class IV hitches?
With the bike being 215 lbs and the rack being around 35? is this going to be safe?
I agree that it will probably obscure the taillights.

Been thinking about getting one of these for my Yamaha WR250X. It would be a breeze to load up, but I would want to get some magnetic tail lights. I have an All Pro full leaf pack, so I don't think it will sag.

Can anyone recommend any hitch mount products that come with a ramp? The Joe Hauler one indicates that it doesn't come with a ramp.

I think most of these systems come with a ramp. As the OP picture shows, there is one there.
My picture looks like a homemade one.

It comes with an aluminum ramp that is secured to the carrier itself with wing nuts, I actually work there and build the Joe haulers myself if you have any questions.

They can be custom ordered with small welded tabs or you can weld on your own to hook up some simple lights that you can plug into your trailer flat 4 pin connector.

I've been looking at these for my DRZ. Anyone use or know someone who has used the Ultimate MX Hauler? I like how it gets the bike higher off the ground for better departure angles and seems easy to load/unload.

When you correct someone's accurate post with inaccurate information you fail, it's pretty simple. Now where the hell is that door? I can't see anything in here.

I dont like them personally, I hate the way it secures the bike, and I had a friend who had one where the ram failed and the bike dropped and he had a bad day! I dont like extra failure points!

I dont know about the rest of youz.... I bought a truck mainly to have a secure platform to transport my dirt bikes. Didnt want to deal with a trailer (which would have been much cheaper) and the speed limit that comes with them. I also dont care for any of the hitch mount type of bike carriers.... just plain scary IF something were to fail.... and I have seen bikes wobble, bounce and what-not on the road, when on either of the hitch type carriers.

    Just my 2¢

Isn't he saying that the tongue weight is 350lbs and 6500lb towing capacity for the v6 towing package? No?

Or r u saying that the tongue weight on the V6 tow package IS 650lbs?

Yes... those numbers are without and with the V6 tow package.

Tow capacity is (standard/V6 tow package): 3500/6500
