Ok well here it goes; I started with a 78 Cb750 that I picked up for 100bucks. 20 bucks later (new plugs etc) and it ran so I started stripping it down. Here is what it looked like when I started and the progress I have made up until now.

I just think it’s to dam ugly...

    DSCN0419_d861b767323b1e6fe02ae54a325560dd157591ca.jpg

    Strip down progress
    DSCN0432_5e36bc707b59fa94df29fe3ad7e5c8c3f2fc0c43.jpg
    DSCN0447_2895b79eb950c9daade3c0b49e0396892dcd568f.jpg

Cut the rear seat support area to get a low stance
    DSCN0453_fe40479f12a3b8c5d573350be639fa4b28c82749.jpg
    DSCN0458_8536b415586a2c9fda7ab99320a3522b562c2a03.jpg

At this point I was thinking I could keep the rear swing arm and do a simple hard tail, keep the factory tank, add a Springer seat and make things real simple.
Simple hard tail, crappy welds, fire ext oil tank that I could never seal...
    DSCN0469_bf6b8d8feec62829712a5daee40adc0ad955826a.jpg

    Simple seat pan...
    DSCN0474_f82606ade9a676fb1d694f6c96a01d6744a1f6a1.jpg

And this is what you get
    DSCN0490_502d101c4d74c4c7ade90a35e57876f8e4185ed4.jpg
    DSCN0492_8ac2603457cbd457e6ee1bdce64b655db056053b.jpg

I liked it but wasn’t thrilled.... so I didn’t stop there

Then I found a HD tank that I had liked on other bobber and wanted to go that route
    36105_405783686565_500026565_484456_ec23bec10258a2fdf54283643693e08497bebf90.jpg
    36105_405783706565_500026565_484456_506478bc2af363c89fa38c28561f682f4f28b67c.jpg

That’s when it hit me…. I don’t like the frame like it is.
    36105_405783711565_500026565_484457_27f73007247de3c38e4daefd2eacca4567785b0f.jpg

And I hated the big block junction where all the frame rails came together, right where the seat is, behind the gas tank.
So I chopped that crap off…
    DSCN0545_b41b3975daa55ad5ce4be61472b5aef8a2581c4b.jpg
    DSCN0546_6dabeafc565c85435fc3f5cb4111f9121ef4398c.jpg
    DSCN0552_0baee05b966f104feb6cf487c02bb97fd94b6879.jpg

Now calm down cause I know I am going to get some “you screwed up no jigging that frame before cutting” comments. But be patient because that’s what I’m getting to. I may have screwed up buy not cutting it on the jig but it worked out and took a lot of work to fix my saz-all crazy moment. I’m glad I did it too, because it wouldn’t look like it does now if I didn’t chop it up.

This is about 6 months after I started… I found an old server computer rack that I could make a frame out of. It was heavy, square and perfect for what I was going to do with it. Here we go…
    IMAG0608-1_007211fbf816536408cb17edab141e6f88a6d9be.jpg
    IMAG0609_03bb6cd212f3d14f05c966ff32cd6959c5e03cff.jpg
    IMAG0612-1_84d31e9329e97e8fd8137c165ed94b1ee045e96d.jpg

    Front fork support
    IMAG0614_ecdb42a35ed4cef6127c2c3a37f7cc9a6ff7fccf.jpg

Rear axle supports and started on frame rail supports
    IMAG0617_6f99cc26502d13a5e73420d17894c0b98b287446.jpg

    Getting there
    IMAG1009_4ce665e649a21f7ad36f966838b72553e577634e.jpg
    IMAG1012_2044040a46cb3c1c7c38b3f5d6b83813b82d7a0c.jpg
    IMAG1182_36e84e3d96608ce508833bd256cef1aae66c7976.jpg

Now all of this took months of work I’m probably at 9months now and it’s all downhill from here. I plan on adding 6in of stretch to the rear and lowering the ride height a little bit.

O yeah I had custom plugs built for the frame tubing, better welding and straight frame rails
    IMAG1008_94de4e6f3d61426238979de9eb60d1d2fc9edc84.jpg
    IMAG1010_616ed1bebc083dff10e48e9ea28a073802b59a74.jpg

Once I built the jig and assembled the frame, I took it to Mike at “Old STF” cycles, so that he could verify my frame was straight and true and to tig weld everything together.

Here is how I got it back…
    IMAG1192_535268f18bb3e44dba1e73451ee790d5f56c4fb3.jpg

Finally got to put the tires on and see how I did.
    IMAG1193_d244cc5afc692de91f1239069eb63685d09ae9c6.jpg

    IMAG1196_10385b15a403aa8b05e1e90c30ee8bbcf6d63314.jpg

I really like this one because I can see how it flows, I picture it together and how it’s going to work out
    IMAG1197_c051319f2ae7b599a6fac365ea340911dfb2b436.jpg

Now that the frame was together I started buying the other things I needed
    IMAG1228_cc820f25829115066c8f82bdcf243d8a1cc07c41.jpg

Handle bars, dirt bike, I needed them to clear the tank at full turn, I will be cutting them down 2-3in on both sides after I get proper controls
    IMAG1230_3b590480a620a4578bb15a29d1cee06e36542207.jpg

Biltwell seat and bracket, only new thing on this bike so far
    IMAG1232_8347597edd037070ff888249a0498dd282f56700.jpg

Think its and old BSA fender, I liked the shape but the radius was to big
    IMAG1238_b1e3413a724a1db557d77cfd583cd19aa19439d1.jpg

Fixed fender and this is about where I am now.

Stay tuned for more progress, waiting on oil tank kit and some other stuff. Wish me luck.

When I first saw what you were doing to that classic Honda I was a little unsure but as I scrolled through the pictures I think I see where you're going with it and I must say that it's turning out pretty nice.

very cool.......dig everything except that vertical post supporting the rear fender.....I'd ditch the fender to do away with the support......LOL...... The open wheel look would match the front.

I would be afraid of my ass being only inches away from a tire doing 70 on the freeway so I think ill keep the fender lol, I do like the open wheel look though

The gas tank, oil tank, and fender will be painted when its all done
