Mid Travel Stuff

I have an 1978 yamaha 80cc 2 stroke street legal trail bike. Just cleaned the carb, air filter, and allowed more air flow. The throttle response is better however it still lacks power in third gear. My friend has the exact same model yet it gains 5mph on me and is better on hills. Any ideas???

Both have the same stock jets and I tuned the card quite a bit. Third gear just doesnt seem to rev that high when im pinning it. I know 2 strokes have more power in lower gears but something isnt right
