Speaker Spacer Rings - 07 Access Cab

hey Mr Marv...

i was just wonderin if u made any spacer rings at all. i didnt see any other threads askin this at all, so i figured id give it a shot.

apparently the front door speakers that i have are gonna have to have some spacer rings in order for it to even fit. the speakers i am wantin to put in the doors are memphis 6x9 PR 15-PR693 (3way coaxial)

i havent even tried to put in my 5 1/2 Kickers in the access door yet, so i dont even know if i need some for them as well.

i guess my other question would be if u do make spacer rings, what are the choices for thickness?

thanks

Thanks for posting that and please feel free to post it anywhere it may help since it may be a while yet before my new website is up!

You will need them for the rear as well in order to install the new speakers properly. Also, I can make them any thickness you need and the thread above will give you information on what you'll need for your specific speakers.

Who knows?

I finished the back speakers and now moving to the front. I have not pulled the skins off yet so I want to find out what I am up against. I read the front tweeters are not on a crossover. Are the tweeters split off of the woofer feed or are they fed directly from the head unit and on a seperate chanel. I am keeping the stock HU for now. Just wondering how the stock components are fed.

Toyota uses what I call a "quasi" active wiring scheme with a capacitor to protect the so called tweeter. When using the factory headunit I typically tap into the input side and if you search the audio forum someone posted a thread showing another way to do it. BTW, this is the way to do it if you plan on disconnecting the "tweeter". If you plan to use the tweeter (I personally wouldn't but it's up to you!) you can just plug into the original woofer connection.

I am installing component speakers and was wondering what the best way to wire them to the factory HU. You say the tweeters are in series? I am not able to see where the factory woofer and tweeter wires are joined in the harness. Can woofer and tweeter wires be joined parallel. Also the speakers are Infinity reference 6020cs and rated @ 2ohms. There are many who would shy away from these low impedence speakers, I read that because of many factors in small gauge wire and crossovers and so on have enough resistance to present a 4 ohm load. I wired them up to the crossover and they measured 3.2 ohms, with just short wires for testing. I tend to belive that as claimed a 2 ohm speaker can be a 4 ohm load. If it does take out the HU no big loss.

The wires are joined inside the harness and if you find that thread above it will show you how to "jump" them or tap into them. I have heard of many using those speakers on headunit power with no problems and since the crossover input measured 3.2 ohms my feeling is it will be fine (speaker ratings are "nominal" and change with frequency so the headunit will "see" a wide range of loads with music playing).
