Eclipse Nav in Tacoma

Mr Marv! I own a 2008 Tacoma 4dr TRD Off Road.

I joined this forum after seeing your great installs, walkthroughs, advice, and FAQ's. You are truly a master at your trade, you do great work. I myself used to install stereo's in College at Texas Tech (it put me through school) @Stan's Car Stereo in Lubbock, TX. We did a few SEMA and SECA cars.

I have been out of the game for a while now...

I have a question about installing a New Eclipse AVN726E in my Tacoma.
I heard Toyota radios are manufactured by Fujitsu Ten (makers of the Eclipse brand). The installer at my local stereo shop said that due to the radios being manufactured by fujitsu ten, that the steering wheel volume/track/mode controls will also operate the Eclipse equipment with out any special interface. Is this true?

Also, how do I wire this unit so that I(my passanger) can input directions and operate the Nav/DVD function while the car is in motion?

Thanks for the compliment! Yes that is true and it's nice to know the installer told you! (I've heard of shops selling /installing the interfaces to people anyway in this situation!). Unfortunately I do not post information on how to bypass safety features (nor will I perform that task for my clients) so as Toren mentioned you'll have to do a search for that info.

Thanks Marv,

I dont see entering destination information while car is in motion as a safety issue. My 2007 Acura TL (all stock) lets me do this with the factory Nav system

I was referring to watching DVD's while driving and didn't realize you could not enter NAV info on the fly (seems to kind of defeat the convenience of NAV )
