New to this board, leased an '07 Access Cab 4x4 til today. Loved the truck, had great graphics, was going to put leveling kit and tires on, make it personal and keep it. Funny thing happened on the way to order said wheels....

Had a briefcase stolen a couple weeks ago, and in it were a set of keys for my truck (and house, toolbox, gun, yada, yada). Put an aftermarket alarm on it a few days after the theft, and went to get another key made/ordered today. Took my motorcycle to the dealer, and took a look at the Double Cab LB in the next parking space, having never seen one up close (and until recently, didn't know they existed). The salesman catches me looking and wants to run the numbers. I says "no, I have 18 months left, thinking of buying it out, really not looking to get out of mine, etc." He says, "well, you never know, there might be some deals going on".

Figuring I have nothing better to do, I let them work it over. They come back where I figured- WAY out of what the realm of what I would have wanted to do. Told them, said seeya, headed to the Parts counter to get my key. They says, "what would it take?" I throw an offer that was comfortable, and what I thought would make them leave me go, if not throw me out. They come back with something in the middle, I say no, came up a little and lo and behold, they take it. They take the info about my '07 and set off on the paper flurry.

Now mind you, I am on my bike. They haven't even seen my trade. We do all the paperwork, the salesman follows me home with the new truck, and after emptying my stuff out, happily takes my '07 back to the dealership. :)

So I am now the proud owner of a white 2010 Double Cab LB. I guess you just never know.:proposetoast:

hahaha that is a great story:) fairy tales do come true! however on the leasing thing i cant believe people lease. its fine if you want a new vehicle all the time and dont mind paying for something the rest of your life and never own it, but i just think leasing is bad all around.

You made a great deal, i hope you enjoy your Tacoma!

Rather similar to my situation. Had an 07 Prerunner LB. Wanted to see prices on new 4x4's. Salesman approached, etc. I told him If he could get my payment lower I would. He did! I drove home with a 2010 TRD DC SB 4x4 6-speed.
So now instead of a 07 2wd with 63,000 miles due for 60k service and no warranty, I have a brand new 4wd with 2 yr/ 25k mile service plan, 6yr/ 60k warranty, and didn't have to make a payment for 45 days! WHOOP!

    nice truck! and great story!

i always wanted a 2nd gen taco ever since they came out.. in nov of 06 the 07's were out and thought now is the time to get a good deal on used. i was looking all over for a used 05 to fit my budget.. ALL of the used two year old tacomas were more $$$ than the new 07s!! i was screwed.. so i thought..

I got online and called 32 different dealerships in 3 surrounding states.. i knew exactly which one of the 18 different models i wanted.. my line right out of the gate was, "I'm calling 32 dealerships and will be picking up a truck today. I want a silver double cab trd sport 4X4. whats your lowest price?" then after getting the lowest price i would call the other dealerships back and tell them my new price.. they would drop theirs then i would repeat the process. turns out that during the whole event the dealership with the cheapest quote never had to change their price.:) and it was only an hour away!:D so i drove to marietta georgia and picked up my dream ride for $6,000 UNDER STICKER! ive had it for 3.5 years and love it just as much now as i did then. best buy i ever made!

i highly recommend this method next time you buy a vehicle.. i know i will!

    lets hear more stories guys!
