    hi all
im new to the forum but not to toyota. presently i own a 03 tundra acces cab trd sr5. prior to that i owned a 99 taco, trd extra cab v-6 sr5. well to make a long story kinda short. im looking at a 01 taco. shes a 4cyl 4x4 auto standard cab. it sits at a buddys repair shop. i havnt really looked it over but it doesnt run. they said the top gear came off of the timing chain. so im trying to do a little research. like is it interferance? from what ive read it isnt. has anyone ever heard of the gear coming off like this? from all the searching i did, i didnt see anything on it. basically i can about steal this truck so im really leaning towards buying it and throwing a timing gear and chain set in it. ive done this repair on an old 22 re. how much difference is the repair in the 2 motors? well thats a lot of questions from a site newbie. i hope you guys can help. right now im also tinkering with a 88 extracab 4x4, also have a 88 4runner in the collection. the pride of the toyota collection is my 85 supra. basically im car guy at heart, i do a lot of body and paint work. i actually hate mechanical work but i do it. in the garage the pride of my entire fleet is my 69 chevelle ss 396. that sits with the 89 iroc convertible and 80 el camino ss. yeah i guess i have an addiction...... like i said long story short. well if you have any questions fire away. hope i can help.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
Sincd you have done similar work on a 22re, here's what you would expect to see on the 3rz and the 2rz. The main difference between the 3rz and 2rz is compression ration and balance shafts.

click your name on the top right of the home page. then on the left there should be camera, click on that. in the blue bar across the top, all the way on the right it should say upload. then just click and upload. once the pictures are done uploading, click on one, copy the link UNDER the picture and paste it in the reply box for each picture you want to put up.
