Leveling vs Lifting

I was thinking of upsizing my 16" rims on my 07 Taco 4WD.Was wondering what I would need,if anything, to go to a 17" rim.If I am just going for a modest increase such as this is a levelling kit sufficient or do I need a lift.What about if I wanted to go bigger than 17"? Thanks

 

x2. I swapped the 16" baja wheel for the 17" TRD sport wheels without a problem (no lift installed). I went from the 245/75-16 Dunlops to 265/65-17 Coopers.

 

First of all, welcome to TW.

To answer your questions, you don't need to do any sort of lift or level to fit the 17" wheels. You may have some slight rubbing that can be dealt with by trimming a little bit of the wheel well.

The important part about swapping rims size is changing the side of the rubber too. You'll need a smaller sidewall aspect ratio (the second number) with the same width or a smaller width tread.

Or you can get a bigger rim with a bigger tire...and then you might need to talk about leveling/lifting.
