I'm new to Tacoma World. I drive a 03 Tacoma. One question. I've been reading threads too but I'm not sure, how do you check for codes if your check engine lights are on? No clue. New to truck and new to this forum. Thanks!

To check codes, you need a OBD2 scanner.

Welcome to TW. You plug that into the diagnostic port, and you get the code. Then you look up the code to see what it mean.

How do you get the scanner? Is it something I can purchase at an autoparts store? I'm familiar with all this, as I've done the paperclip trick on one of my previous rides and it works wonderful for a DIY. I was hoping this '03 Tacoma would be the same.
