HELLO TW

I've been lurking for about a week now, Ive found a wealth of knowledge here and look forward to contributing regularly from what I've seen so far.

As I type this I do not have any pics readily available, so I will come back & post them up as soon as I get them taken and/or hosted.

I'm currently in my 3rd Toyota 4x4... never owned anything else.

1) '88 4WD RegCab, 22REC / 5spd MT (totaled by a freight train)
2) '90 4WD RegCab, 22R / 5spd MT (still with my dad who gave it a flat bed)
3) '96 Ext cab, 3.4L V6 / 5spd MT (currently driving & sweating the frame rust issue)

So I guess it's no surprise that I'm under the gun with the frame rust issue... I've had 2 inspections so far and am getting pretty nervous as to what's gonna happen.
I predict I'm gonna find issues AFTER my window of opportunity expires & then be stuck with it.

Currently shopping for a late 1gen (01-03) or at least that's what my savings tells me .
My list of demands is short, but getting hard to come by:
1) 4WD, 2) V6, 3) 5spd MT
Found a great '01 locally, everything on my list plus more, but it's at a super sleazy small dealership - letting it go just because I can't bring myself to work with them.

I'm currently active on several other forums as well (for different interests), I think this makes aahh, hmm, *RS25...NSOC...WT...M-R...MLPF... plus a couple others... let's say 6.
So I'm wondering how many of you are like me in the fact that you're active in several forums to support your modding habits for various hobbies.
I'm willing to bet if you're into SPORTBIKES, SUBARUS or LESPAULS, maybe we've crossed paths before (or will).

I gotta say, you've got a decent crop o' smileys around here

That's all for my intro, for now... I'll probably be pokin' my nose in yer business pretty regularly for the next couple of weeks, so now you know a little bit about who I am.

UPDATE: Pics as promised

My first set of wheels was my '88. Must've been fall of 92 or 93 when I picked it up.
February 23rd, 1996 at approximately 8:30pm I ran it under a parked freight train at a speed of about 50mph - no brakes, my foot was still on the gas when I hit.

Just to clarify, it was completely dark out, we were on a gravel road on the outskirts of town, and what we hit was the back half of a black tanker car (the last car on the train) which was only taking up my half of the road.

The steering wheel pinned my legs down, somehow I pushed down on the seat & managed to slide back & up and climbed out my rear slider.

This was my first date with my future wife I opened her door and got her out. As soon as we were clear of the wreckage, the train decided to move. My side got sucked up under the train & drug the damned thing about 50 yards before working it's way out from under it.

The train was probably a mile long, & never stopped once it got rolling.
I was running down the tracks chasing it, cursing like a sailor
...I never caught it

I got no pics of my '90 yet.
But here's my current '96 shortly after acquiring it which would've been fall of '01.

Mods since these were taken:
- window tint
- indiglo gauges
- 3" RevTek w/AAL
- 2.2" Xenon flares
- different wheels (swapped with my '90)
- 31x10.5 R15 BFG AllTerrains

In a minute all the things you have can all be straight gone...in a minute all the things you thought were tied can come straight undone.

Its pretty ironic that you also posted this at 3:11 PM EST
