alternator current and amps advice

I've got a 2002 tacoma v-6 4x4 ext. cab with a stock alternator and I'm putting in a JL 400-4 channel amp for 4 infinity 5x7 speakers, and a 1000 watt 2 channel amp thats bridged powering 1 bazooka sub tube. my queston is will the stock alternator keep up with the extra draw or will I need to install a capacitor to store extra juice?The stereo is an aftermarket sony.

 

A capacitor is really for smoothing out quick power demands, like when the bass hits suddenly. It's not a substitute for having an adequate battery and charging system over longer periods. I am betting you are going to need upgrades all around if you plan on using that system for extended periods.

I am sure there are more audio oriented folks on here than myself, who are better qualified to answer here, but what I have always done/heard, a bigger or additional battery allows the unit to be used more heavily/longer. It's also good, clean, relatively spike free power. However, a bigger alternator enables you to refill that that battery capacity faster, or keep it topped up.

Batteries, alternators and capacitors are all part of the equation. You have to build in a properly balanced way or your system will be less than it could have been.
