Decided to join this thread today because it was a big help.
My compass and temp. sensor inside my cab went out last week on my 06 Tacoma and I was thinking of taking it to the dealer for repair. I have a hard time taking any of my vehicles for repair because I have been doing all or most of my own repairs for 35 plus years. So I started a search for any help when I found this thread.
I found the thread that explains the simple repair to the 510 chip in the overhead sensor/compass. Just did the repair today and bingo; it works.
Again, a great big mahalo for your help.

Since I'm here, I still haven't taken my Tacoma in for the recall on the acceleration problem. Does anyone believe this is necessary? I just don't believe that the gas pedal had anything to do with this recall.
    Any thoughts?

I agree the gas pedal doesn't have anything to do with anything. I have an 06 manual 6 speed, and don't have any problems. I think its just corporate Toyota over reacting about the prius drivers who shouldn't own a license. Unless someone else knows something I don't. Welcome to TacomaWorld! Feel free to ask. We are usually pretty cool helping out and helping new members :)
